The Polish Composers' Union invites you on 25-27 October 2020 to the virtual Academy of Music in Kraków to listen to the sessions of the 49th Musicological Conference of the Polish Composers' Union – "Theory of music / musicology here and now. Resonance of the Past – Contemporary challenges".
The conference will discuss the following topics: "Musicology – Theory of music. The elemental dialectic?"; "Understanding music. The idea of experiencing the work"; "Developing sensitivity and imagination"; "Music as a message'; "Paradigms, thought constructs, concepts and methods".
The conference will feature 29 speakers, we will hear two lectures, nine panels, and two concerts. There will be also a presentation of the droba.polmic.pl website, devoted to the person and work of Krzysztof Droba. The final concert will premiere Zbigniew Bargielski's Clavertett for string quartet and harpsichord, which was created as part of the "Composing Commissions" programme of the Institute of Music and Dance. The conference will be held on the AMK ON-LINE lecture platform, created especially for the conference participants. Let's be together! As long as technology does not fail, traditionally the Musicological Conference will resonate, although in a new space, not necessarily a hostile one – these are the challenges of the present day!
