Online Scientific and Artistic Conference: "Reconstruction of the Piano Concerto No. 2 in G major by Wojciech Albert Sowiński"

UMFCThe Chair of Music Theory and the Laboratory of Anthropology of Music Culture at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw invite you to an online scientific and artistic conference entitled "Reconstruction of the Piano Concerto No. 2 in G major by Wojciech Albert Sowiński. Interpretation, implementation and organizational problems", which will be held on 19 December 2020 at 4.00 p.m.

The conference will be devoted to the piece reconstructed by the composer and conductor Jarosław Praszczałek, PhD (FCUM). Wojciech Sowiński was a Polish composer of the Romantic era, a contemporary of Fryderyk Chopin. His second piano concerto was written in the then fashionable brilliant style. Based on the available piano reduction, Jarosław Praszczałek managed to reconstruct the orchestra part.

The Scientific Council of the conference is composed of famous professors and artists associated with the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw: Maria Gabryś-Heyke, Marcin Łukaszewski and Leszek Lorent. This important meeting of enthusiasts of 19th-century Polish music will feature papers by Michał Piekarski from the Institute for the History of Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences and lecturers of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music: Jarosław Praszczałek, Monika Kuchta and Tomasz Pawłowski. The recording of the reconstructed concerto performed by Tomasz Pawłowski will be presented for the first time after the conference, at 6.30 p.m.

The event was financed by a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
