"Stage for Polish Music": Meccore String Quartet

FSThe concert of the award-winning Meccore String Quartet as part of the "Stage for Polish Music" programme, operated by the Institute of Music and Dance, will take place on 2 February 2021 at 6.30 p.m. at the Oskar Kolberg Świętokrzyska Philharmonic in Kielce.

Established in 2007, the Meccore String Quartet is one of Europe’s most compelling ensembles. Since many years they have been a treat for music lovers and have performed in many prestigious concert halls such as the National Phil­harmonic Hall in Warsaw, Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Beethoven-Haus in Bonn, Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, Wigmore Hall in London, Bozar in Brussels, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Musikverein in Vienna, Pollack Hall in Montreal, Frick Collection in New York. During their tours, the musicians appear at the most important music festivals. For the album Szymanowski & Debussy, the ensemble received two nominations for the Fryderyk 2016 award and the Supersonic Award of the German magazine Pizzicato. A number of international distinctions brought the Meccore String Quartet nomination for the “Paszport Polityki” award in the clas­sical music category for their “innovative approach to the music and for breaking the musical stereotypes”.

The programme of the upcoming concert will include Szymon Laks' String Quartet No. 5, Karol Szymanowski's String Quartet No.2, Op. 56, Ignacy Jan Paderewski's Variations in F major for string quartet and Grażyna Bacewicz's String Quartet No. 5.
