On 25 June 2021 at 9:00 p.m. in the heart of the city, on the Bytom's Market Square, there will be an interdisciplinary multimedia perfromance with the participation of 500 artists from the Metropolis of Upper Silesia and Zagłębie. We will hear the music of Wojciech Kilar and Józef Świder.
"Insurgent Triptych – In Memory of the Earth" is a performance in which singing, music, dance and visual art will lead the viewer through a touching story about sacrifice, love for the family and the Silesian land. The theme that binds the individual parts of the concert together is the narrative presenting the history of the region, leading the listener to the main event, i.e. the 100th anniversary of the Third Silesian Uprising.
The performance will consist of three parts (History, Fight and Memory) with a prologue featuring Klaudiusz Jania's In Memory of the Earth for five brass bands. In the following parts, the artists will present the works of famous Silesian composers. We will hear, among others, film music by Wojciech Kilar and Józef Świder's Insurgent Triptych to words by Tadeusz Kijonek. The soloists Joanna Woś (soprano) and Piotr Lempa (bass), the Symphony Orchestra and Choir of the Henryk Mikołaj Górecki Silesian Philharmonic in Katowice and a number of brass bands, choirs and dance groups associated with Silesia will perform on one multi-level stage built on three platforms. The choreography and music will be complemented by an effective video art, displayed both on elements of multimedia stage desing and in projection mapping on Bytom tenement houses.
The show will be streamed on Facebook and YouTube channel of the Bytom Cultural Centre and the Commune of Bytom and made available on the Internet for 24 hours after the end of the event.
