Warsaw | 21st Franciszek Wybrańczyk "Sinfonia Varsovia to Its City" Festival

SV21 concerts of the 21st edition of the Franciszek Wybrańczyk "Sinfonia Varsovia to Its City" Festival will be held between 29 July and 2 September 2021 in the South Praga district. The artists will take the audience on a sentimental journey to pre-war Warsaw and to the far corners of the Americas. Among the soloists and conductors who will accompany the musicians of Sinfonia Varsovia, are Szymon Nehring, Jerzy Maksymiuk and Aleksandar Marković.

Summer concerts will be held four days a week in the Concert Pavilion at 272 Grochowska Street. Thursdays will be an opportunity to listen to orchestral works performed by Sinfonia Varsovia and invited guests. The festival will be inaugurated by the music of the Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla. On 5 August, we will hear Mieczysław Weinberg's Rhapsody on Moldavian Themes, and a week later soprano Olga Rusin will perform Karol Szymanowski's Kurpie Songs. The highlight of the evening on 26 August will be the performance of Wojciech Kilar's Orawa under the baton of Jerzy Maksymiuk. The programme of the final concert will include Fryderyk Chopin's Piano Concerto in F minor, Op. 21.

Festival Sundays are reserved for chamber music performed by the musicians of Sinfonia Varsovia and invited artists. Five afternoon concerts at 4.00 p.m. will present a diverse repertoire, including Warsaw songs from pre- and post-war times. Taking place every Saturday, the "Family Mornings' will also be related to Warsaw, the instruments of the orchestra and the world of nature. The series of new music concerts "Experimental Tuesdays" will be a unique opportunity to see how the generation of young composers treat tradition and modernity.
