Biecz | 7th Kromer Festival Biecz

Kromer Biecz The Kromer Festival Biecz will run from 29 July to 1 August. The leitmotif of the 7th edition is "Community" – the last year has shown how important it is in the music profession. Four days will include six concerts performed by Polish artists.

The organisers want to show that the community on the local level can be realised in the most necessary way – by giving musicians the opportunity to perform, to be present in concert and market life, interrupted drastically by the pandemic, and finally to earn money. The festival will be carried out in a hybrid form, combining live performances with broadcasts on the festival's online channels and on the air of the co-organiser and patrons of Kromer Festival Biecz 2021 – TVP Kultura and Radio Kraków. Thanks to this the local community will become global.

The eponymous community is also a universal language of music and a dense cultural network connecting the whole world. The expression of the community, showing the cultural continuum, will also include projects presenting the presence of old masters in the work of contemporary composers and artists, as well as the use of old instruments in works created in the 21st century. During the inauguration of the Festival, Arte dei Suonatori and the Music Cooperative will premiere Katarzyna Głowicka's Quiet Time – a new work commissioned by the Festival, which presents a spectrum of sounds resulting from the combination of historical and contemporary instruments. Another project that crosses the boundaries of historical performance is a joint venture by the jazz violinist Adam Bałdych and the Equilibrium quartet. Bałdych's composition for violin and string quartet referring to outstanding Polish chamber works is another commission from the Festival.

Admission to all festival concerts is free. Co-financed by the "Music" programme carried out by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
