Łódź | Łódź of Four Cultures Festival 2021

EdelmanThe Łódź of Four Cultures Festival 2021, organised by the Marek Edelman Dialogue Centre, will be held on 10-18 September under the slogan "Future Now!". However, on 14 August there will be open concerts in the backyards of tenement houses as part of the celebration of the 75th birth anniversary of Daniel Libeskind, and on 15 August the Łódź Diversity Picnic will be held in the Survivors' Park.

The ticketed music events include: the opening concert with the participation of Patryk Pietrzak, the Mucha band and the Israeli multi-instrumentalist Keren Tannenbaum, concerts by the Belarusian group Superbesse and the German The Notwist, as well as the spectacle Music of the Jacob's Books based on the novel by Olga Tokarczuk. The premiere of the work performed by, among others composers and singers Agata Zubel, the Bastarda trio and the Lutosławski Quartet will take place on 11 September at 8.00 p.m. in the Evangelical-Augsburg Church of St. Matthew. As the organizers point out: "The Music of the Books of Jacob, inspired by the epic work of Olga Tokarczuk reaches to the historical and geographical space where the sect of Frankists, intriguing in terms of religion and philosophy, was born and operated. A coherent collage is born out of many musical bricks, in which, next to the classics – Haydn and Mozart – there are compositions inspired by Jewish music, Turkish-Balkan atmosphere, Moldovan and Ukrainian folk rituals".

The theatre section will include four premieres as well as the screening of the film @miriamfrompoland directed by Piotr Szczepański, mindfulness workshops for adults, philosophical walks for children in deep ecology concept, film and book-film walks around Łódź, the Łódź Diversity Picnic and the Intergenerational Picnic with a concert by Majka Jeżowska and the Dikanda band in the Survivors' Park.
