The last weekend of August 2021 at the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music includes three final concerts. On 27 August there will be a final concert of the participants of Adam Sztaba's workshops, on 28 August – the last Chopin recital performed by Marcin Wieczorek, and on 29 August – a concert of the Aukso Orchestra conducted by Marek Moś, which is the culmination of the Festival.
The concert of the participants of Adam Sztaba's workshops will present the result of weekly intensive rehearsals of the workshop orchestra, composed of young musicians playing both acoustic, electric and electronic instruments. This evening we will hear works by composers and arrangers participating in the workshops as well as Adam Sztaba's own compositions. The concert will be realised in collaboration with the most recognized Polish sound company – GMB Pro Sound.
Marcin Wieczorek from Radom was among 87 pianists qualified for the 18th Chopin Competition. He studied with Ewa Pobłocka and Paweł Wakarecy at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, and currently he is studying piano with Stefan Wojtas. He is the winner of the "La Palma d'Oro" competition in Italy (2019), the winner of the 1st prize at the Teodor Leszetycki competition in Germany (2020) and 2nd prize at the "Nuova Coppa Pianisti" competition (2019). The young pianist received a number of prestigious scholarships, performed at concerts and festivals in Europe and North America, and made many recordings for Polish Television and Polish Radio.
Polish contemporary music will dominate the concert programme of the Aukso Orchestra. We will hear Aleksander Lasoń's Hymn and Aria for string orchestra, Andrzej Krzanowski's Symphony No. 2 for 13 string instruments, Eugeniusz Knapik's Islands for chamber string orchestra and Krzysztof Penderecki's Sinfonietta No. 3.
