Szczecin | "Great Concertmasters": Concerto Notturno

Baltic Neopolis OrchestraConcerto Notturno is the title of the autumn concert in the "Great Concertmasters" series which will take place on 23 October 2021 at 7.30 p.m. at the Trafostacja Sztuki Gallery in Szczecin. The concertmaster and soloist of the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra will be Daniel Stabrawa – a world renowned artist associated with the Berlin Philharmonic, appointed its concertmaster by Herbert von Karajan.

The Baltic Neopolis Orchestra has been cultivating a bond with Mikołaj Piotr Górecki for a long time. At the end of July 2021 the ensemble premiered his piece Second Space and at the upcoming concert we will hear his Concerto Notturno for violin and string orchestra.

The remaining part of the programme, consisting of the works of Polish composers, was arranged by Daniel Stabrawa. We will hear Three Pieces in Old Style by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki – a combination of early music (e.g. a quotation from the 16th-century song describing the wedding of King Sigismund Augustus) with contemporary music techniques, as well as Michał Spisak's dynamic and thrilling Suite for string orchestra.

The "Great Concertmasters" series was co-financed by the City of Szczecin. "StART – a series of concerts" was co-financed by the Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport from the Culture Promotion Fund as part of the "Music" programme carried out by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
