Regina Chłopicka has passed away...

ZKPRegina Chłopicka – an outstanding musicologist, professor at the Academy of Music in Kraków, member of the Polish Composers' Union since 1981 – has died. In 2021, she received the Annual Award of the Polish Composers' Union for outstanding achievements in the field of music.

She was a long-time employee of the current Department of Musical Work Theory and Interpretation at the Academy of Music in Krakow. In 1999–2005 she was the Dean of the Faculty of Composition, Conducting and Music Theory. Her research interests included Polish contemporary music, the subject of death in music (passion and requiem) and 20th century music theater. She published over 60 articles and a book Krzysztof Penderecki, Musica Sacra – Musica Profana: A Study of Vocal-Instrumental Works.

She took part in international conferences and research projects. She conducted guest lectures, among others at the École Normale Supérieure, François Rabelais University of Tours, International Bach Academy, Seoul National University. She was a member of various Polish and foreign scientific societies, including Société Française d'Analyse Musicale, Société Internationale d'Histoire Comparée du Théâtre, de l'Opéra et du Ballet. In 2003, she was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award. In 2001, she was honored with a Golden Cross of Merit.

The funeral will take place on 5 November 2021. After a Holy Mass at the Collegiate Church of St. Anne in Krakow at 11:00 a.m., the deceased will be escorted to the family grave in the Rakowicki Cemetery (from the Main Gate at 1:15 p.m.).
