Wigry | 3rd "Kamedulskie Wigry" Chamber and Organ Music Festival – Autumn Edition

Kamedulskie WigryThe JAX Association and the Wigry Pro Foundation invite you on 11-14 November 2021 to the autumn edition of the 3rd "Kamedulskie Wigry" Festival of Chamber and Organ Music. In addition to concerts in the historic 17th-century Post-Camaldolese Monastery in Wigry, the "Organum Mundi: from Gregorian chant to the present" conference will be held at the Royal House in the Monastery complex.

"Orgnaum Mundi" is a series of ten lectures exploring the subject of Gregorian chant, organ building, performance practice and prominent figures of the organ world, including Warsaw composers of the second half of the 20th century.

The concerts will be performed by renowned experts in the field of Polish organ studies: Prof. Piotr Rojek (I.J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań), Dr Maria Erdman (K. Penderecki Academy of Music in Krakow), as well as Dr Wiktor Brzuchacz (Catholic Academy in Warsaw) and Piotr Tabakiernik – composer, cantor and organist.

The programme includes works from the Middle Ages to the music of the 20th century. The audience will also be able to listen to elaborate organ improvisations, in which one can find well-known melodies from Gregorian chant or liturgical songs. Polish music literature will also be featured in concerts and lectures.

Admission to all festival events is free, although the number of places is limited. Co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund as part of the "Music" programme implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
