Kielce | "Polish Music Scene": Jacek Kortus

KortusOn 13 December 2021 at 6.30 p.m. the Oskar Kolberg Świętokrzyska Philharmonic in Kielce will host another concert of the "Polish Music Scene" programme: pianist Jacek Kortus will perform works by Franciszek Lessel, Antoni Stolpe and Józef Wieniawski.

The "Polish Music Scene" is a project aimed at Polish music performers, organised in collaboration with the Warsaw Philharmonic and art institutions in Poland. The main goal of the next concert is to popularize Polish piano literature, which is not often performed in concert halls. The programme will include piano sonatas by three composers from the same region (Puławy, Lublin), each of whom contributed to the development of Polish piano music.

Jacek Kortus graduated with honours from the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, where he studied with Prof. Waldemar Andrzejewski. Currently, he works as an assistant at the Academy's Piano Department. He has received many awards at international and national piano competitions, including the 1st prize and "Grand Prix" at the 9th International Chopin Competition in Antonin (2005) and an honourable mention at the 15th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (2005). He has performed at leading philharmonics in Poland and abroad. In 2017 he was awarded the Decoration of Honour "Meritorious for Polish Culture" by the Minister of Culture.
