Łódź | 5th Seminar of Contemporary Harpsichord Music 'Cembalo no limits'

5th Seminar of Contemporary Harpsichord Music Cembalo no limits will take place on the 12th of January 2022 in the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź. The event is co-organized with The Elżbieta Chojnacka Center for Contemporary Harpsichord Music.

Dr hab. Marcin Świątkiewicz (Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice). will present his paper Improvisation in the context of actual music phenomena. Dr Aleksandra Gajecka-Antosiewicz (The Elżbieta Chojnacka Center for Contemporary Harpsichord Music) will talk about Elżbieta Chojnacka as a critic of historical performance. Dr hab. Ewa Mrowca (Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź) will have a presentation on Wanda Landowska’s harpsichords. Wojciech Stępień (Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice) will deliver an analysis of his own piece Five Letters to the Beautiful Knight.

Apart from the morning lectures a concert Tales, dedications and other reasons will also take place presenting first performances of Olga Hans’ and Philip Czapłowski’s compositions. We will also be able to hear pieces by Sławomir Kaczorowski, Marcin Świątkiewicz and Wojciech Stępień performed by Aleksandra Gajecka-Antosiewicz, Hanna Balcerzak, Ewa Rzetecka - Niewiadomska, Justyna Młynarczyk, Paweł Gusnar, Maciej Bartczak, Marcin Świątkiewicz and harpsichord students of the Łódź Academy of Music.
