Katowice | Premieres Concert 'To the words'

Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

2022 is an extraordinary year for Polish culture - 200 years have passed since the first edition of Adam Mickiewicz's Ballades and Romance, a work considered to be a manifesto of Polish Romanticism. The Polish Radio Choir also decided to take part in the jubilee conversation about Polish Romanticism and organized a concert ‘To the Words’ - a musical attempt to present a wide range of ideas expressed in the poetry of Polish romantics and their successors. The concert will take place on the 30th of April at 6.00 p.m. in the hall of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Four composers were invited to take part in the project: Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa, Paweł Łukaszewski, Piotr Tabakiernik and Szymon Godziemba-Trytek, who deal with Adam Mickiewicz's Crimean Sonnets, the poetry of Cyprian Kamil Norwid and the works of Zygmunt Krasiński. It is complemented by a composition by Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa to the poetry of Bolesław Leśmian.

Co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from Culture Promotion Fund as part of the 'Composers' Commissions' programme of the National Institute of Music and Dance.

Works by Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa and Paweł Łukaszewski were published by the Polish Music Edition.
