Cieszyn | 30th Festival 'Viva il canto'

POLMIC

The jubilee 30th edition of the ‘Viva il canto’ Vocal Music Festival, which could not take place last year due to the pandemic, will take place in Cieszyn on the Olza from the 10th to the 16th of September 2022.

The audience will have the opportunity to see, among others, an excellent staging of the famous operetta of Johann Strauss, or the Bat's Revenge, directed by Henryk Konwiński, but also listen to Polish and Ukrainian songs performed by Halina and Aleksander Teliga and young, debuting singers - both folk and stylized songs written in the 19th and 20th centuries.

‘Viva il canto’ also includes music meetings and premieres. During the concert on the 140th  anniversary of Karol Szymanowski's birth, works not only by Szymanowski will be performed, but also Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Mieczysław Karłowicz and - for the first time - Suite on Karol Szymanowski's themes composed by the master of improvisation, Silesian organist and organ builder Tomasz Orlow.

An oratorio work the Little Solemn Mass by Gioacchino Rossini will also be presented, in its original version: for choir, four soloists, two pianos and organ
