For the 41st time, choirs from around the world will present themselves at the largest and most prestigious festival of Orthodox music in Poland. The International Festival of Orthodox Music ‘Hajnówka’ in Białystok will take place between the 21st and 25th of September, 2022. The Festival is held under the patronage of the Polish Composers' Union.
The festival is the first event in the world presenting Orthodox music from the beginning of Christianity to modern times, with particular emphasis on music created by Polish composers.
During the Festival, church music is performed by choirs regardless of nationality and religion - secular choirs, Orthodox Christians, Catholics, Greek Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, Buddhists, and followers of Judaism. It has been taking place continuously since 1982. The inaugurating concert ‘Ukraine and Poland in Orthodox Church Music’ will be performed by the Częstochowa Philharmonic Choir ‘Collegium Cantorum’ conducted by Janusz Siadlak.
