Stawisko | 2nd Festival ‘Stawisko - a place of symbiosis of arts and cultures': toward Ukraine

POLMICMedia patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

The 2nd Festival ‘Stawisko - a place of symbiosis of arts and cultures’, which will take place at the Anna and Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz Museum in Stawisko between the 9th and the 23rd of October, 2022, is a series of events presenting the traditions of the House of Anna and Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz as a place of symbiosis of arts, an area open to various cultures. The 2022 festival will focus on connecting Stawisko with Ukrainian culture. The co-organizer of the festival is the Polish Composers' Union.

The obvious impulse for taking up such a topic is Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz himself, a writer from the borderlands, whose work is deeply rooted in the culture of this part of Europe. The ties between his writing and Ukrainian culture are among the strongest and most diverse. The festival is also an attempt to turn to Ukraine, which has recently experienced - despite tragic events - a great spiritual revival, by presenting the trends and styles most characteristic of Ukrainian music and literature.

The achievements of Ukrainian composers will be juxtaposed with the music of Polish composers - both well-known and those less recognized. During the Festival, there will be an opportunity to remind you that Karol Szymanowski and Ignacy Jan Paderewski, and also much less frequently mentioned in the history of Polish music - Konstanty and Konstanty Kazimierz Regamey, among others, were born in Ukraine.

Co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund as part of the 'Music' programme implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
