The Castle Opera in Szczecin invites you to the concert ‘For those who did not return from the sea", which will take place on the 11^th of June, 2022 at 22.00 at the Central Cemetery in Szczecin. The Castle Opera Orchestra conducted by Przemysław Zych and mezzo-soprano, Urszula Kryger, will present works by Mieczysław Karłowicz and Krzysztof Penderecki. Premiere of a a song cycle by Michał Dobrzyński, specially composed for this event, will also be performed.

The concert ‘For those who did not return from the sea ...’ is a cyclical event, taking place in the unusual scenery of the Central Cemetery, among the symbolic graves of those who were taken by the sea. The concert is preceded by a maritime ceremony with the participation of the honorary company of students of the Maritime University of Szczecin to commemorate the people who tied their lives with the sea.

On the 16^th of April 2022 at 3:00 PM ET (12:00 PM PST) on The Violin Channel Cleveland Institute of Music, Colburn School, Curtis Institute of Music, Manhattan School of Music, New England Conservatory, New World Symphony, Royal Conservatory of Music and San Francisco Conservatory of Music will present an online charity concert featuring their young artists. Music of Mieczysław Wajnberg will be performed among others.

Young artists from eight institutions will take part in an online concert. The author of the concept is Midori - the famous violinist and teacher.

During the concert fundraising for organizations providing humanitarian aid and organizing medical care for Ukrainians will take place.

The program includes performances by Improvisation Klezmer Ensemble, San Francisco Conservatory of Music's Roots, Jazz and American Music (RJAM) and Colburn School's Ziering-Conlon Initative for Recovered Voices dedicated to the presentation of works by composers persecuted by the Nazi regime.

Works by Schubert, Bartók, Taffanel, Skoryka and Popper will also be performed during the event.

The Polish Society for Electroacoustic Music (PSeME) announces the international electroacoustic music competition "Etude for one bell stroke" as part of the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Sigismund Bell in Krakow. The deadline for submitting applications is 15 June 2021.

The competition is dedicated to Włodzimierz Kotoński, the author of the first Polish electroacoustic composition Etude for one cymbal stroke, realised in the Polish Radio Experimental Studio in Warsaw in 1959.

The competition is open to everyone, regardless of age, gender and nationality.

The leading theme of the competition is the sound of the Sigismund Bell, ordered and funded by King Sigismund the Old at the beginning of the 16th century. The material of the competition composition is limited to the sound of the bell in its historical and spectral dimension (the preferred sound of the Sigismund Bell is available on the Internet) with any transformations, references and multi-channel spatial sound projection.

From among the 10 final works, 3 main prizes and 3 honourable mentions will be awarded. The results of the competition will be announced during the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Sigismund Bell in July 2021. The awarded compositions will be performed on 13 July 2021 in the open space around the Wawel Royal Castle, as well as during the concert in Nuremberg on 17 July 2021. The works will be also released on an album by the Audiomat label.
