'elChopin – Preludia' – 24 Preludes Op. 28 of F. Chopin in electronic remakes

On the 30th of December, 2022, Bartłomiej Zajkowski's music project ‘elChopin – Preludes’ will be finalized as part of the Creative Scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage 2022, presenting 24 Preludes, Op. 28 by Fryderyk Chopin in a new electronic version on the elchopin.pl website.

‘elChopin – Preludes’ is a project that is the first attempt in Poland to transpose 24 piano Preludes op. 28 by Fryderyk Chopin into the aesthetics of electronic sounds. The creator of all arrangements is Bartłomiej Zajkowski - pianist, composer and music producer.

The aim of the project is to bring Fryderyk Chopin's works closer to younger generations, for whom electronic music is often the only music they know, in a form that will be interesting, intriguing and modern, and at the same time valuable.

Warsaw | Polish Orchestra Sinfonia Iuventus and Rafał Jackiewicz

On the 7th of January, 2023, the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra invites you to a symphonic concert dedicated to the music of Rafał Jackiewicz. The concert with the artist as a soloist will take place at 19.00 in the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of the Polish Radio in Warsaw.

Saxophonist and conductor Rafał Jackiewicz, a graduate of the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, winner of many national and international competitions, consistently develops his composing interests, devoting most attention to the instrument, which he masters best.

In the programme of the monographic concert, apart from a cycle of five pieces for saxophone, jazz trio and orchestra, there will also be a purely orchestral Poem. The solo parts will be performed by Piotr Dziadkowiec (piano), Maciej Kitajewski (bass guitar) and Adam Golicki (drums). Wojciech Semerau-Siemianowski will conduct the concert.

Zielona Góra | 'In the rythm of Tango' - New Year's Eve Concert

The Zielona Góra Philharmonic invites you on January 31, 2022 at 18.00 on a journey full of passion and passion, told by the most beautiful tangos in the world. A woman (singer Kaja Mianowana) and tango masters (Ganga Tango band) will meet in sensual tango that night. The soloist of the concert will be invited to the milonga by a world-class dancer, Gieorgij Puchalski.

The Zielona Góra Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Agnieszka Środowska. Artists will perform, among others: works by Piazzolla, Szpilman, Petersburski, Gardel and Gade.

Gdańsk | Concert of Christmas Carols at the end of the Year of Maria Konopnicka

The Open Theater in Gdańsk invites you to a festive concert of Christmas carols at the end of the Year of Maria Konopnicka, which will take place on the 30th of December, 2022 at 18.00 at the Artus Court. Polish pastorals and Christmas carols will be presented by well-known Tri-City artists: Dariusz S. Wójcik (bass, director of the Otwarty Theatre), Bogna Forkiewicz (soprano), Jacek Szymański (tenor), Rafał Lewandowski and Franciszek Lewandowski (piano).

Since 2019, in co-organization with the Museum of Gdańsk - in the Artus Court in Gdańsk - the Otwarty Theater has been organizing carol concerts, during which the works of outstanding figures to whom the Parliament of the Republic of Poland devoted a given year are presented.

The programme of this year's event includs Polish pastorals and Christmas carols, e.g. Jan Maklakiewicz and songs by Polish composers at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, including Zygmunt Noskowski, Feliks Nowowiejski, Stanisław Niewiadomski, who in their rich and beautiful works drew on the poetry of Maria Konopnicka.

The Piano Competition for Children and Youth under the Honorary Patronage of Rafał Blechacz is back! The 7th edition will take place on March 25, 2023. We would like to invite young talents from all over Poland to participate!

Over the past years, nearly 200 participants have taken part in the Competition. We have had pianist from Warsaw, Gdańsk, Poznań, Jelenia Góra, Strzelin, Słupca, Koło, Lipno, Sieradz, Solec Kujawski, Cekcyn, Konin, Chełmża, Toruń, Włocławek, Gdynia, Inowrocław, Białystok, Kraków and Bydgoszcz. An opportunity to expand this list is coming soon, and you, a young pianist, can contribute to it!

Competition auditions in three age groups will be conducted only live in Nakielski Ośrodek Kultury under the supervision of a professional jury:

  • 1st group: classes I - II c.6 and class I c.4
  • 2nd group: classes III - IV c.6 and class II c.4
  • 3rd group: classes V - VI c.6 and classes III - IV c.4

On one hand, Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche on the other, the sounds of the music drama that forever changed the history of music, and, moreover, the works of Vytautas Barkauskas and Witold Lutosławski - will fill the diverse repertoire of the concert on the 20th of January, 2023 at 19.00.

Witold Lutosławski's Cello Concerto was written in 1969–1970 for the legendary cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, who soon premiered the work with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Edward Downes. The outstanding cellist Nicolas Altstaedt will perform as a soloist this evening. The NFM Wrocław Philharmonic will be conducted by maestro Keri-Lynn Wilson.

Warsaw | Carnival concert of Sinfonia Iuvents: Williams, Beal, Bernstein

On the 21st of January, 2023 at 19.00 the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of the Polish Radio in Warsaw will host a carnival concert of the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra. The repertoire includes works by John Williams, Jeff Beal and Leonard Bernstein. The soloists will be Michał Barański (bass guitar and double bass), Michał Tokaj (piano), Łukasz Żyta (drums) and musicians from Sinfonia Iuventus conducted by Przemysław Neumann.

2023 marks the 105th anniversary of the birth of the great conductor and composer, Leonard Bernstein. This is a good opportunity to recall his achievements, of which the musical West Side Story is especially loved. A selection of symphonic dances from the musical, always eagerly listened to, will be complemented by a colorful, lively overture to the operetta Candide by the same author.

Wielkopolska Competition of knowledge about life and work of Witold Szalonek 2023

In order to popularize the person of the outstanding Polish composer Witold Szalonek, the State Primary and Secondary Music School in Konin organizes a competition of knowledge about life and work of this composer for students of primary and secondary music schools in the Wielkopolska and Łódź regions. The competition is a one-stage competition and will take place on the 13th of March 13, 2023 at PSM I and II in Konin. The deadline for submitting applications is the 3rd of March.

Cracow | Sinfonietta Cracovia and Kroke conducted by Krzysztof Herdzin

SC 29.1.23Patronat medialny nad Koncertem objęło Polskie Centrum Informacji Muzycznej POLMIC.

During the concert on the 29th of January, 2023 at 6.00 p.m. at Cracow's Łaźnia Nowa Theater, during 'Sinfonietta Nova' series, Kroke's works will be performed in a fresh version arranged for an orchestra by Krzysztof Herdzin. Sinfonietta Cracovia and Kroke will perform under the composer's baton.

Herdzin prepared arrangements for an album Feelharmony released by EMI in 2012. After a little over ten years this extraordinary artistic event, which brought together a group of excellent musicians, will be revived once again at the Łaźnia Nowa Theatre that is a co-organizer of concerts in the Sinfonietta Nova series.


The material for the album includes the most popular works by Tomasz Kukurba, Jerzy Bawoł and Tomasz Lato, graduates of the Cracow Academy of Music.

Debut album of the Apeiron Trio for the DUX label

DUX1900On the 18th of January, 2023, the first album of Apeiron Trio Polish Piano Trios will be released by DUX record label.

Three of registered works come from the Romantic and Post-Romantic periods whereas the fourth one, from the end of the 20th century, show an astonishing possibility of dialogue with tradition.

 


The album will be available in the DUX online store, Empik stores, good music stores and on streaming platforms.

International Classical Music Awards to National Forum of Music for special achievements

On the 18th of January, the ICMA jury announced the winners of this year's twenty-six awards. National Forum of Music Witold Lutosławski in Wrocław received the International Classical Music Awards 2023 for special achievements.

The International Classical Music Awards 2023 award ceremony and the gala concert will take place on the 21st of April, 2023 in the Main Hall of the NFM. During the event, the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic will perform directed by maestro Giancarlo Guerrera.

Katowice | Poznań Philharmonic and Łukasz Borowicz in NOSPR

On the 27th of January, 2023 at 7.30 p.m., the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cracow Philharmonic Choir, tenor Andrzej Lampert, baritone Szymon Mechliński and cellist Hayoung Choi will perform at the seat of NOSPR. Under the direction of Łukasz Borowicz, they will perform works by Tadeusz Szeligowski, as well as Friedrich Gulda and Hector Berlioz.

Tadeusz Szeligowski is the patron of the Poznań Philharmonic as its founder and first director. His Comedy Overture will open this guest concert of the Poznań orchestra.

At 18.30 before the concert, in the chamber hall there will be a meeting with Piotr Matwiejczuk, who will discuss the pieces performed during the evening. The entrance to the lecture is free of charge, the presentation of a subscription card or a concert ticket entitles you to participate in the lecture.

Katowice | NOSPR: 'Organ Nights and Mornings' cycle

Between February 18 - June 11, 2023 NOSPR will host ‘Organ Nights and Mornings’ series, in which Julian Gembalski, the author of the concept of the new NOSPR organ, and the graduates of music academies will participate.

On three mornings, the 5th of March, the 28th of May and the 11th of June, organist Julian Gembalski will show you what is really hidden in an organ cabinet, what a windchest actually is, how water organs work and why you need as many as a million parts, to build such an instrument.

On the 18th of February, the artists will juxtapose the imagination-stimulating, mythological, metaphysical and sensual images of French artists, and on the 1st of April - the craziest, surprising and contradictory musical fragments, such as... Waltz on four legs, or referring to the legendary rivalry between Bach and Handel, improvised Dinner for four arms and legs performed by Daniel Strządała and Michał Botor.


Karol Mossakowski, laureate of i.a. this year's ICMA award will perform on the 25th. On the 30th of April 30, he will invite his pianist brother to perform together. This unusual piano and organ duo will present among others the famous Variations on a theme by Paganini, written by Witold Lutosławski for the piano duo Lutosławski - Panufnik.

3rd edition of the international composition competition 'art and violence'

ArtViolence 23We would like to invite composers from all over the world to participate in the 3rd edition of the international composition competition 'art and violence'.

The initiator and organizer of the competition is the Cracow-based 2Act Foundation. Together with the project partners - Capella Cracoviensis, the Association of Authors ZAiKS and the Polish Music Information Center POLMIC we would like to encourage composers to create an original work for harpsichord and electronics, referring in its idea to the relationship between art and different forms of violence.

The jury members in the 2023 edition are composers:
Marco Stroppa, Magdalena Długosz, Karol Nepelski and the secretary of the competition Jarosław Płonka.


The scores should be submitted by April 10, 2023. The results will be announced on April 25, 2023.The rules of the competition, the application form and all details are available at www.fundacja2act.org  in the ‘projects’ tab.

Recognized musicians in the jury of the 3rd International Polish Music Competition

The director of the National Institute of Music and Dance announces the composition of the jury of the 3rd International Polish Music Competition Competition, which will take place in Rzeszów. The competition promotes Polish music of the 19th and 20th centuries among performers and the audience, and its winners, apart from cash prizes, will also receive numerous concert offers. Application deadline is the 15st of February, 2023.

This year, from July 2 to 9, the Artur Malawski Podkarpacka Philharmonic in Rzeszów will host the third edition of the International Polish Music Competition - a unique event organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance since 2019.

The aim of the competition is also to promote talented musicians who include in their repertoire less known or less frequently performed works by Polish composers. Previous editions of the competition have shown that it is an event with an ever-widening global reach, and the winners successfully present Polish music on stages around the world. The competition is held every two years and includes two categories: pianists and chamber ensembles.

The jury of both categories of the competition will include recognized Polish and foreign musicians.
