Paweł Gabara – the new General Director of the Grand Theater Łódź

The Grand Theater Łódź has its new General Director: Paweł Gabara, who in January 2015, after 17 years, left the position of General Director of Gliwicki Teatr Muzyczny (Gliwice Music Theatre).

Among his plans for the next 4 years are presentations of great works by Polish composers: Krzesany by Wojciech Kilar, Toison d'or [Golden Fleece] by Aleksander Tansman, Lamaila by Maciej Pawłowski, Ubu Rex by Krzysztof Penderecki and Król Roger King Roger] by Karol Szymanowski.

The nearest premiere in Grand Theatre Łódź will take place on November 21st. It will be Don Giovanni by W. A. Mozart.

Andrzej Panufnik's Music at the Warsaw Rising Museum

Koncert muzyki Andrzeja Panufnika
As celebrations of the 71. anniversary of the Warsaw Rising come to the end, the Warsaw Rising Museum invites all amateurs of classical music for a special evening dedicated to an outstanding Polish composer and conductor – Andrzej Panufnik.

Andrzej Panufnik, a great, world-renowned Polish composer, contributed to preserving the memory of the Warsaw Rising as author of music to the song Warszawskie dzieci [‘Children of Warsaw’], which is familiar to every Pole. For many years Panufnik lived in exile, but his works have always been full of references to Polish history.

Andrzej Panufnik’s greatest works will be presented, arranged for piano, cello and string quartet.

Program includes:

Reflections - Ryszard Alzin (piano)

Dreamscape –Tomasz Strahl (cello) and Ryszard Alzin (piano)

String Quartet No.3 ‘Wycinanki’  [‘Cut-outs’] – Opium String Quartet
