Z okazji przypadającej 5 lipca 2019 roku 140. rocznicy urodzin Wandy Landowskiej – pianistki i kompozytorki, jednej z najsłynniejszych klawesynistek świata – TVP Kultura zaprasza na premierową Scenę Klasyczną poświęconą jej twórczości.

W przeddzień jubileuszu, 4 lipca, w premierowej Scenie Klasycznej, TVP Kultura zaprasza na Koncert Sonat Johanna Sebastiana Bacha na skrzypce i klawesyn w wykonaniu klawesynistki Liliany Stawarz i skrzypka Pawła Łosakiewicza. Muzycy wykonają dwie sonaty – I Sonatę h–moll BWV 1014 oraz VI Sonatę G-dur BWV 1019 – uwielbianego przez Landowską Jana Sebastiana Bacha.

W dniu urodzin Landowskiej, 5 lipca, TVP Kultura wyemituje Koncert klawesynowy op. 40 Henryka Mikołaja Góreckiego w wykonaniu Elżbiety Chojnackiej, której mistrzynią była ulubiona uczennica Wandy Landowskiej – Aimée van de Viele. W koncercie wystąpi także Kapela Jana Karpiela Bułecki z Zakopanego. Tuż po widowisku widzowie będą mogli obejrzeć film dokumentalny poświęcony Elżbiecie Chojnackiej w reżyserii Jana Hryniaka.

Scena Klasyczna w TVP Kultura to cykl, który prezentuje sylwetki najciekawszych artystów związanych z muzyką klasyczną. Wanda Landowska urodziła się 5 lipca 1879 r. w Warszawie. Była jedną z najsłynniejszych klawesynistek świata, pianistką i kompozytorką. Studiowała w Warszawie i Berlinie. Od 1941 roku mieszkała w USA gdzie koncertowała, dawała lekcje i kontynuowała pracę nad nagraniami. Zmarła 16 sierpnia 1959 roku w Lakeville w Connecticut, USA.

On 7 July 2019 at 6 pm the Palace in Rybna will host the second concert as part of the "Two Currents" series, organized by the Elżbieta Chojnacka Center for Contemporary Harpsichord Music, Palace in Rybna and Gorczycki.pl Association; the event is entitled "Dance of Life".

The programme of the concert combines baroque and contemporary works, representing two extremely different aesthetics but expressing the same types of emotions. The evening will begin with a symbolic Kyrie from Mass XI Orbis factor, prompting us to consider the essence of existence. Love – one of the most important values ​​in life, will be represented in Tadeusz Baird's sonnets, Henry Purcell's suites of baroque dances and fragments of Claudio Monteverdi's L'Orfeo. The concert will also premiere Weronika Ratusińska-Zamuszko's Berenice. Miniature in the Baroque style – a story about a man, a birth, a great love, and an extraordinary mystery. The work was composed especially for Ewa Rzetecka-Niewiadomska, who will take part in the concert along with baritone Hubert Niewiadomski as Duo Polonaise.

The concert is co-financed from the funds of the Tarnowskie Góry Commune and the Palace in Rybna.

On the first weekend of July 2019 at 4.00 pm the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra invites you to the concerts of the series "Summer Concerts at Grochowska Street". The audience will learn about the music of Maklakiewicz's family as well as the music of French and Belgian composers.

The cycle of afternoon chamber music concerts returns to the home of Sinfonia Varsovia. Just like last year, each Saturday and Sunday at 4:00 p.m. features performances by well-known artists and rising stars on the classical music scene. There will be 30 concerts arranged by common themes: Not just for Orchestra, Japan, Moniuszko, Relax, Travelling, Improvisation, Old Warsaw. The music will be performed by traditional ensembles and some rare configurations, including a reed trio with saxophone and bass clarinet, a cello octet and a flute quartet. The works performed will feature music of many periods and genres – from the Baroque to opera arias, jazz and contemporary and improvised music.

The concert on 6 July will feature the Maklakiewicz Ensemble, composed of graduates and pedagogues of the music academies in Poznań and Wrocław. The ensemble will perform works by Jan Adam Maklakiewicz and his brother Franciszek Maklakiewicz as part of the project on the occasion of the 120th birth anniversary of the composer. On 7 July, talented young Polish artists: violinists Karolina Gutowska, Karolina Mikołajczy, Weronika Weiss and pianists Wojciech Pyrć and Weronika Chodakowska will perform works by Grażyna Bacewicz, Maurycy Moszkowski, Eugene Ysaÿe and Camille Saint-Saëns.

On 7 July 2019 at 5.00 pm the Henryk Mikołaj Górecki Silesian Philharmonic will host a summer concert of film music.

The Silesian Chamber Orchestra along with outstanding soloists – clarinettist Roman Widaszek, pianist Grzegorz Biegas as well as actor and violinist Maciej Zakościelny – will perform well-known pieces of film music by Wojciech Kilar, Ennio Morricone, John Williams, Bartosz Chajdecki and Henryk Kuźniak. The programme will also include a recital of the poetry by priest Mieczysław Maliński.

Bogusław Schaeffer, a composer, musicologist, playwright, graphic designer and teacher, a member of the Polish Composers' Union since 1956, and an honorary member since 2003, has died on 1 July 2019 in Salzburg.

He was one of the most original figures on the Polish music scene. He distinguished himself by extremely wide creative interests, a consistently avant-garde attitude and controversial aesthetic views. As a composer, he was very innovative and bold in experimenting with new forms, genres and types of music. As one of the first Polish artists, he took up electronic music. The first Polish musical happening was his work Non-stop (1960). He was also the first on in Poland to compose in the genre of instrumental theater in the TIS MW2 (1963) work written for the famous experimental group MW2.

Almost in every work he solved a new compositional problem, challenging the Polish musical milieu and arousing lively discussions on new music. He was an outstanding theoretician of new music. His work New music. The problems of contemporary compositional technique (1958) remain the basic theoretical source in this field, and Introduction to Composition (1976) is the only one of its kind in the world literature. Stefan Kisielewski called Bogusław Schaeffer "the father of new music in Poland."
