Gdańsk | 7th" NeoArte – Synthesizer of Arts"

Polish and world premieres, musicians from the Baltic countries, South Korea, and Sweden as well as the leaders of Polish new music scene. The 7th edition of Festival "NeoArte – Synthesizer of Arts" will be held on October 25-27, 2018 in Gdańsk.

"NeoArte – Synthesizer of Arts" is a festival held in Gdansk, presenting the most interesting trends in contemporary music and art. It is a platform interconnecting artists from different cultural backgrounds and provenances, an event of intriguing and uncommon profile giving a chance for the contact with music and art as awell as a medium expanding new areas of human mind and enriching our world perspective. NeoQuartet, Polish string quartet specializing in performances of new music, is the initiator and originator of the festival.

Each concert of these year edition is planned as multi-disciplinary spectacle. During the majority of events the audience will be an active participant of the creative process. Starting from the inauguration, where NeoQuartet will present the second edition of the unique event called "Neo Electric Quartet" and Swiss artists Arturo Corrales and Emilio Guim will present their "Electric Primitivo" project, through the newest Korean art and presentation of performative music from Baltic countries in The Baltic Sea Culture Centre, finishing with the six hours-long final concert featuring the best European performers of contemporary music (Spółdzielnia Muzyczna, Kwartludium, Rei Munakata) and the performance of the newest multimedia compositions and sound installations by Wojtek Blecharz – this-year's Composer-in-Residence.

Warsaw | 47th ZKP Musicological Conference "The Past in Music – Music towards Tradition"

On October 25-27, 2018, at the Art Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw (26 Długa Street) will host the 47th Musicological Conference of the Polish Composers' Union "The Past in Music - Music towards Tradition".

The year 2018 is also the 70th anniversary of the Section of Musicologists of the Polish Composers' Union, therefore all of you are cordially invited to take part in the conference. The first panel session will be devoted to the history and present, and will feature Katarzyna Dadak-Kozicka, long-term chairwoman of the Musicologists Section, the author of the book Obrońcy dobra powierzonego, which talks about the beginnings of the ZKP and the Musicologists Section; Iwona Lindstedt, editor-in-chief of "Polish Musicological Yearbook," and Sławomir Żerańska-Kominek, editor-in-chief of "Musicology Today". The conference participants' lectures will also be devoted to issues in the history of music as well as etnomusicology, anthropology and sociology of music, incorporated in two complementary thematic areas, announced with the title of conference. The first one concerns various forms of the presence of music of the past in the culture of a given period, the second – the relation of music to a tradition identified with a given musical genre, a center, a region or a social group.

The conference is being prepared by the Program Committee composed of Agnieszka Draus, Paweł Gancarczyk, Barbara Przybyszewska-Jarmińska and the chairwoman of the SM ZKP Beata Bolesławska-Lewandowska. The conference is organized in cooperation with the international research project HERA "Sound Memories: The Musical Past in Late-Medieval and Early Modern Europe" (www.soundme.eu). The project is financed under contract 1013 / P-DUN / 2018 from the funds of the Minister of Science and Higher Education designated for dissemination of science.

Warsaw | SuperSam +1: Szábolcs Esztényi & Anna Jędrzejewska

The next concert of the "Supersam + 1" series of master performances, organised by the „Mózg Foundation”, will be held on June 28, 2018 at 8.00 pm in the Dzik club in Warsaw (44A Belwederska St.)  The main performers will be Szábolcs Esztényi i Anna Jędrzejewska.

Szábolcs Esztényi is a composer, pianist, improviser and a teacher of Hungarian descent, who has been living in Poland since 1969. He studied piano in the class of Margerita TrombiniKazuro and composition in the class of Witold Rudziński on Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Muzyczna in Warsaw (Warsaw Higher Musical Education Public School). As a composer and a soloist he performed in Poland and abroad on many festivals (Warszawska Jesień [Warsaw Autmun], Poznańska Wiosna Muzyczna [Poznań Music Spring], Warszawskie Spotkania Muzyczne [Warsaw Music Meetings], Musica Polonica Nova Festival in Wrocław, Biennale Zagreb, Budapesti Zenei Hetek, Donaueschinger Musiktage and many others. He cooperated with well-known artists such as: Jerzy Artysz, Andrzej Hiolski, Heinz Holliger, Roman Jabłoński, Jadwiga Kotnowska, Wilanów Quartet, Halina Łukomska, Olga Pasiecznik, Jadwiga Rappé, Zygmunt Krauze's Music Workshop, Jerzy Witkowski, Iwona Mironiuk (with whom he has been performing as a piano duo since 1999). He has made many archive recordings for Polish Radio. For many years he has been cooperating with Ferenc Lantos nad Maria Apagyi, the creators of creative music-visual pedagogy and founders of Free Artistic School in Pécs, Hungary. Since 1972 he has been working as a piano teacher in Fryderyk Chopin's Higher Education School in Warsaw, as well as on Music Academy in Warsaw and Łódź. He is a regular guest in many academic centres with his illustrated lectures related to creative pedagogy and teaching improvisation.

Anna Jędrzejewska is a composer, director and an author of multimedia projects such as installations or multimedia shows. Jędrzejewska combines improvisation and contemporary achievements of European art. She is an author of “Mindful Improvisation” – an exercise in intuitive music that combines music and psychology and explores areas of perception, concentration and intuition. She cooperates with Teatr Performer and together with Robert Jędrzejewski she creates a duo of improvising composers. The band creates multimedia projects that combine video, electronics and improvisation.

"Supersam + 1" is a series of master performances. The project focuses mainly on music, however, it also includes other forms of expression such as: performance, multimedia, monodrama. “Supersam + 1” will present respected Polish and foreign artists whose work is original, experimental and innovative.

Szczecin | Philharmonic chamber concert: Polish music

On October 24, 2018 at 7:00 pm in the Chamber Hall of the Szczecin Philharmonic, there will be a concert of Polish music performed by the musicians of the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.

The artists will present, among others, the first of two early string quartets by Stanisław MoniuszkoQuartet in D minor, dedicated to Józef Elsner. The programme will also included a repertoire from the second half of the twentieth century. The five-part String Quartet No. 3 "Wycinanki" (Paper-cuts) by Andrzej Panufnik was written in 1990, when composer return to Poland after 36 years of emigration. Hence, in the title and formal structure a reference to Polish folklore – the symmetry of folk paper-cuts. Another composition for a string quartet is the Overture by Mikołaj Górecki from 2000, which is characterized by a lively theme and constant struggle between tonality and atonality. The programme also covers two trios by contemporary artists associated with Szczecin – Artur Cieślak and Tadeusz Mazurek. The evening will end with the Fantasy Trio, Op. 26 for clarinet, cello and piano by a Polish-American composer born in Chicago – Robert Muczyński.

Warsaw | Dariusz Przybylski: Percussion Works

On October 24, 2018 at 7pm in the Concert Hall of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, there will be a concert promoting the album of the graduate and pedagogue of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, Dariusz Przybylski.

Composer's many years of friendship with drummer Leszek Lorent resulted in one of the most interesting CD albums of recent years. Dariusz Przybylski. Percussion Works is a record that combines classical and sonoristic sound, wildness and shamanism with sophisticated references to great literature.

"Percussion is for me an unlimited treasury of sounds, colors and ways of musical expression. The language of this instrument, based on the rhythm, directly refers to ancient times and archaizes the musical work in a natural way" –  says Dariusz Przybylski.

The album contains five percussion works, including the composition for two percussions Rituals, Subcontrast for percussion and tape, ... the rest is silence ... for percussion and piano duet, and Nekyia for three percussion instruments and a trombone quartet. The pieces will be performed by drummers Leszek Lorent, Rafał Kozyra and Tamara Kurkiewicz, pianists Aleksander Dębicz and Andrzej Karałow, as well as the Instrumental Ensemble conducted by Dawid Runtz.

For all concerts from the cycle "Wednesday on Okólnik Street" tickets for PLN 15 can be purchased at the earliest two weeks before the concert. Łódź | Diversity of string literature

The Chair of String Instruments at the Music Academy in Łódź invites you to a two-day scientific and artistic conference entitled "A diversity of forms and performance techniques in string literature of the 20th and 21st centuries", organized on October 23-24, 2018.

The lectures will take place between 10 am and 1 pm (Tuesday) and 10 am and 12.30 pm (Wednesday). On the first and second day, two concerts are planned at 5.00 pm. The group of invited speakers consists of specialists from Polish music academies, among others, dr Dorota Stanisławska, prof. dr hab. Agata Jarecka, dr hab. Ewa Guzowska, prof. dr hab. Arkadiusz Kubica, prof. dr hab. Jolanta Kukuła-Kopczyńska, dr hab. Jan Kalinowski, dr Sebastian Wypych, dr Anna Wandtke, prof. dr. hab. Sławomir Tomasik.

The programme of the afternoon concerts will include music of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries: Nostalgia for viola solo by Agata Jarecka, Sonata No. 2, Op. 63 by Mieczysław Weinberg, Bi-Kaleidoscopium for two violas by Bogdan Dowlasz, Myths, Op. 30 by Karol Szymanowski, La cadenza. Ignacy Jan Paderewski in memoriam, Op. 3 by Sławomir Tomasik, String Quartet by Paul Kletzki, Little Polish Concerto by Bartosz KowalskiDuo Concertante by Krzysztof Penderecki.

5th Musical Autumn in Kraków

"Porta Musicae" Artistic Association together with the Karol Szymanowski Krakow Philharmonic, invite you to participate in the 5th edition of Krakow Musical Autumn. On the occasion of this small jubilee, the festival will feature five concerts which will take place on November 4-8, 2018.

This year, an invitation to perform the inaugural concert was accepted by the artists from Messages Quartet, who together with pianist Daniel Brylewski will perform the Johannes Brahms quartet and the quintets of Grażyna Bacewicz and Alfred Schnittke. On the second day of the festival, coming from Spain, the Bacarisse Trio will present a programme consisting of the works of Joaquin Turin, Enrique Granados and Paweł Łukaszewski.

The third concert will consist of pieces performed by pianist Gajusz Kęska  and Italian actor Angelo Romagnoli. The artists will premiere Katarzyna Szwed's work, commissioned and written especially for the fifth edition of the Krakow Musical Autumn as part of the "Composing Commissions" programme of the Institute of Music and Dance. On the forth day, Emes Piano Duo will present the most famous works of Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johannes Brahms. The festival will close with the programme consisting of compositions for cello and piano by Sergiusz Rachmaninow, Tadeusz Majerski, and Ludomir Różycki, and the Polish premiere of the work by Tomasz J. Opałka.

Prezentacja polskiej muzyki współczesnej w Gruzii

KwartludiumW dniach 2–5 listopada 2018 roku kwartet Kwartludium wystąpi z cyklem koncertów w Gruzji.

Muzycy zaprezentują szeroki i różnorodny program począwszy od klasyków polskiej awangardy, aż po kompozycje najnowsze napisane na zamówienie zespołu w ostatnich latach. W programie utwory Tadeusza Wieleckiego, Sławomira Wojciechowskiego, Wojciecha Ziemowita Zycha, Jarosława Płonki i Piotra Peszata. Koncerty odbędą się w Sali Koncertowej Państwowego Konserwatorium im. V. Sarajishvili w Tbilisi i w Państwowym Teatrze Opery i Baletu im. Melitona Balanchivadze w Kutaisi.

Muzycy poprowadzą również warsztaty dla studentów Wydziału Kompozycji Państwowego Konserwatorium w Tbilisi, z którymi wspólnie wykonają kompozycje graficzne takich twórców jak Bogusław Schaeffer, Roman Haubentsock-Ramati, Krzysztof Knittel czy Jerzy Kornowicz.

Poznańscy Filharmonicy w Berlinie i Mediolanie

FPBerlin i Mediolan to dwie metropolie, w których w październiku 2018 roku wystąpi Orkiestra Filharmonii Poznańskiej.

Już 23 października Orkiestra wystąpi w słynnym Konzerthaus w historycznym centrum Berlina. Podczas koncertu z okazji 100. rocznicy odzyskania przez Polskę niepodległości, w samym sercu niemieckiej stolicy zabrzmią dzieła Ignacego Jana Paderewskiego, Henryka Wieniawskiego, Aleksandra Tansmana i Wojciecha Kilara. Swoisty pomost pomiędzy narodami stworzy zaś Uwertura Zur Namensfeier Ludwiga van Beethovena dedykowana księciu Antoniemu Radziwiłłowi. Orkiestrze Filharmonii Poznańskiej pod batutą jej szefa, Maestro Marka Pijarowskiego, towarzyszyć będą światowej sławy artyści: wybitny pianista Szymon Nehring i solistka-rezydentka Filharmonii Poznańskiej, znakomita skrzypaczka Bomsori Kim. Udział w koncercie zatytułowanym „Niepodległej na urodziny” zapowiedzieli prezydenci Polski i Niemiec. Włoscy melomani usłyszą dzieła najwybitniejszych polskich kompozytorów: Fryderyka Chopina, Henryka Wieniawskiego, Karola Kurpińskiego i Krzysztofa Pendereckiego. Orkiestrę FP poprowadzi Maestro Łukasz Borowicz, a solistkami będą dwie światowej sławy gwiazdy –Yulianna Avdeeva i Bomsori Kim.
