Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

On the 1^st of March, 2024 at 7.00 p.m. the Opole Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra will perform directed by the young conductor and composer Jakub Montewka, who served as the Philharmonic's assistant conductor in the 2022/2023 artistic season. The solo part in Karol Szymanowski's Violin Concerto No. 1 will be performed by a recognised Polish violinist Jakub Jakowicz, who plays the instrument made by the Gand Brothers (Paris, 1859).

Szymanowski's Violin Concerto No. 1 opened a new chapter in the history of instrumental concerts. It differs from the great Romantic compositions in virtually everything: the form of the work is one-piece, but composed of five links, and the performing virtuosity is presented in a completely new approach.

Martyna Zych's conductor residency at the Warmian-Masurian Philharmonic in Olsztyn in the 2023/24 season is underway as a part of the National Institute of Music and Dance "Conductor - resident" programme. On the 1^st of March 2024 at 7 p.m. in the Philharmonic Concert Hall as part of the residency programme Czech and Polish music will be performed.

Martyna Zych, a young conductor who was selected for this year's edition of the "La Maestra" competition in Paris, will conduct the Symphony Orchestra of the Warmian-Masurian Philharmonic. The Concert Overture "Carnival" and the Cello Concerto in B minor by Antonin Dvořák and the First Symphony by Henryk Wars will be performed. The solo part in the Cello Concerto will be performed by Emil Olejnik, a student of the Juilliard School in New York.

8^th Piano Competition for Children and Youth under the Honorary Patronage of Rafał Blechacz will be held on the 16^th of March, 2024 at the Nakło Cultural Center. Students of first degree music schools can take part in it. The organizers provide 3 prizes and distinctions in each group, as well as a special prize for the best performance of Fryderyk Chopin work. The deadline for submitting applications has been extended to the 29^th of February, 2024.

Over the past years, over 250 participants from various corners of Poland took part in the Nakło Piano Competition. This year the competition will be held in three age groups.

On the 29^th of February at 19.00 Hashtag Ensemble invites you to its Warsaw home in Barska 29 street or the first concert on the occasion of its 10^th anniversary. The artists, under the direction of Lilianna Krych, will present different perspectives of Polish and Romanian composers on man's negotiations with time. Recognized pianist Tymoteusz Bies will take part in the concert.

The Artifices Artificibus Association, the Silesian Association of Choirs and Orchestras and the Chórtownia Foundation invite choirs and vocal groups to take part in the 5^th International Night of Choirs Festival, which will take place on the 25^th of May 25, 2024 in Ruda Śląska. Application deadline is the 17^th of March, 2024.

The International Choir Night Festival in Ruda Śląska is an artistic, educational and social event. Its goal is not competition, but presenting valuable music to the audience. All concerts, lasting 20 minutes, take place in spaces unusual for music projects. These include: the restored 19th-century Railway Station (Library Station), the Water Tower, the building of the former "Kaufhaus" Department Store, the Silesian Einfart, the Patria Cinema and the garden of the municipal kindergarten. While walking between concert venues, the audience will have the opportunity to listen to numerous ensembles and experience a multitude of musical styles
