Wojciech Błażejczyk,

composer, guitarist, and sound engineer. Born on 10 January 1981, he graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (UMFC), where he studied sound engineering under Andrzej Lupa and composition under Zygmunt Krauze. He also graduated from The Faculty of Journalism and Political Science, University of Warsaw. Since 2010 he has been assistant lecturer at the department of sound engineering of the UMFC, running his original classes in Sound Design for students of Inter-University Multimedia Programme and Computer Music Studio at the Chair of Composition. He participated in Polish and German workshops for composers-instrumentalists in Genshagen, Germany in 2011.

He writes contemporary music, film scores, and music for the theatre. His works have been performed at a range of festivals, including Warsaw Autumn (concerts of the Youth Circle of the Polish Composers' Union), New Music Concerts (Toronto), FOCUS! Festival – Polish Modern: New Directions in Polish Music Since 1945 (New York), Musica Moderna (Łódź), ComIn Festival (Warsaw), Audio Art (Warsaw), by such music ensembles as Kalisz Philharmonic Orchestra, New Music Concerts Ensemble, Orchestra and Choir of the Mozart 2003 Association, An_arche New Music Ensemble, Kwadrofonik, Unplugged Orchestra, or Scontri Ensemble.He has written scores for a range of documentary and short films, as well as music for the computer game Hard Reset. He has also written music for puppet theatre, and collaborates with prominent director Ewa Piotrowska.

He plays electric guitar – solo and as a member of the Warsaw Contemporary Ensemble (along with Maciej Frąckiewicz, Magdalena Bojanowicz, and Oliwier Andruszczenko). He has performed world premieres of works by Tomasz Opałka, Dariusz Przybylski, Krzysztof Knittel, Krzysztof Baculewski, Paweł Przezwański, Detlef Bensman, and many others. He also performs improvised and experimental music (Sonofrenia trio, Duoturborożec), progressive rock (Demer di), and live music for silent movies (Niemy Movie). He has played at such festivals as Musica Moderna, Audio Art, Ankunft: Neue Musik (Berlin), Portraits of Composers (Warsaw), Olympus Jazz Festival, Warsaw Summer Jazz Days, or Silent Film Festival (Cracow).

He works for Warsaw Autumn festival as a sound engineer, he records contemporary music, as well as popular music and music for the theatre. He creates sound design for films (collaborating with the Dreamsound postproduction studio) and audiobooks (with the Stereotyp studio).

He has garnered a range of composition prizes, including the third prize of the 1st Krzysztof Penderecki International Composers’ Competition “Arboretum” (2012) for Introjekcja; first prize of the 52nd Tadeusz Baird Young Composers Competition for Exhorta (2011); second prize of the 1st Zygmunt Mycielski Composing Competition held by the Youth Circle of the Polish Composers’ Union for Protocol (2010); second prize of the 51st Tadeusz Baird Competition for Apnea (2010); along with the audience award and special prize of the 3rd National Composers Competition of the Students' Musical Forum for Schizophrenia (2002). He was a finalist of the 4th National Competition for Composers of Classical Guitar in Tychy (Poland) for Glances (2000). He has also won the competition for the best stereo recording of classical music run by the 124th Convention of the Audio Engineering Society (2008).

Wojciech Błażejczyk has received scholarships from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (2006, 2008) and the Keimyung Research Foundation (2007, 2010). In the 2013/14 season Wojciech Błażejczyk was a composer-in-residence of the Jan Szyrocki Academic Choir of the West Pomeranian University of Technology Szczecin (CHAPS) as part of the residency programme run by the Institute of Music and Dance.

Since 2015 he is a member of the Polish Composers' Union.
