Elżbieta Woleńska,
flutist, b. 23rd October 1979, Bytom. She received her master’s degree (2003), doctorate (2006) and habilitation (2013) from The Karol Lipinski Academy of Music in Wroclaw, where she studied with prof. Jerzy Mrozik. She also obtained Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste in Paris under the supervision of Professor Pierre-Yves Artaud. She served as an Associate Professor of Flute at The Karol Lipinski Academy of Music. Currently, she is a flute professor at the Zhaoqing University in China. Since 2010 she has acted as the chairman of the Polish Flute Association.
She participated in many master classes in Poland and abroad, among others with Julius Baker, Janos Balint, and Peter-Lukas Graf. She also participated in jazz music courses with Delmar Brown and Brad Terry. She conducted various workshops and courses for pupils, students and pedagogues.
Elżbieta Woleńska is a dynamic artist who embraces both traditional and contemporary classical music. She has won numerous prizes at national and international competitions. As an avid performer, Elżbieta frequently performs as a soloist as well as with orchestras and chamber ensembles. Her repertoire includes compositions written for bass, alto, and piccolo flutes. She is interested in performing jazz and contemporary music (including compositions with electronics), and often collaborates with young composers.
She recorded 2 CDs. Elzbieta Wolenska & Friends (2007) with music of Claude Bolling and pieces for flute solo, and Souvenir (2012) – world premiere recording of works by XIX century flute virtuoso Johann Sedlatzek.
