pianist and conductor, b. 3d February 1954 in Poznan, into a family with a strong musical tradition reaching back several generations. In 1976, he received his Piano Diploma (with Distinction) from the Music Academy in Warsaw. He studied at the Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington on a stipend from 1976 to 1977. During his stay in Indiana, he was awarded the first prize at the Rosanna M. Enlow Music Competition in Evansville. Slowinski studied conducting at the “Hochschule für Musik” in Cologne and went on to join the Dortmund Opera House as Vocal Coach and Conductor from 1980 to 1986.

Upon his return to Europe, concerts and recordings followed in Poland, France, Yugoslavia, and Germany.

He moved on to become Second Conductor and Assistant of the Principal Conductor at the Ulm Opera House in 1986. From 1993, he was Principal Conductor and Deputy Director of Music at the Opera House in Trier. He then moved back to Poland, accepting the position of Musical Director at the Opera House in Poznan. In 2000, Slowinski moved on to the State Opera House in Gdansk as Artistic Director and Principal Conductor. He then moved on to fill the position of Principal Conductor and Deputy Director of Music at the Opera House in Gera-Altenburg, Germany.

Over the course of his career, Slowinski has been a guest conductor at numerous opera houses and concert halls across Europe, including regular appearances at the “Warsaw Music Encounters” Festival.

Since 2018 he has rekindled his long-term interest in composition.
