Andrzej Borzym jr,
conductor and composer; b. 12th November 1979 in Warsaw. He studied with Ryszard Dudek at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music (now – University) in Warsaw, graduating in orchestral and stage conducting in 2003. In 2003-07 he studied composition with Zbigniew Bagiński.
He has composed several dozen works, mostly vocal (chamber and choral) and vocal-instrumental, as well as music for the theatre and film. He dedicates much time to arranging musical works representing different styles. He has arranged music for various line-ups from solo piano and string trio to vocal ensembles and choirs to large symphony orchestra. His 4 Songs to Words by William Shakespeare were commissioned as part of the "Collections – Composing Commissions" programme implemented by the Institute of Music and Dance.
His compositions have been performed by: Tempus Vocal Quartet, proMODERN Vocal Sextet, OPUS665 sextet, Musica Aeterna Vocal Ensemble, the Collegium Musicum University of Warsaw Chamber Choir, and others.
His conducting talent has been appreciated by festival organisers in Poland and abroad. Ryszard Dudek has conducted such ensembles as e.g. the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music Symphony Orchestra in Warsaw, the Orchestra of "In the Land of Chopin" Music Festival, Toruń Symphony Orchestra, the philharmonic orchestras from Częstochowa and Gorzów, and the Orchestra of the Slovene National Theatre in Maribor. As a choirmaster in 2005-07 he conducted the Ars Cantata Chamber Choir of the Club of Catholic Intellectuals, with which he won awards in choral competitions in Poland. Since 2002 he has been the second conductor of the Collegium Musicum University of Warsaw Chamber Choir, with which he has toured in Poland and abroad (in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Slovakia, France, Lithuania, Italy, Iceland, Egypt and Chile). Since 2013 he has conducted the Vocal Ensemble of Warsaw Chamber Opera.
Andrzej Borzym also performs as a singer in numerous vocal emsembles. He was a member of Il Canto, with which he sang at more than 600 concerts. He is the founder, director and member of Tempus Vocal Quartet – an early music ensemble focusing on the Renaissance era.
