Silesian State Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in Katowice has performed Lutosławski on numerous occasions. Both the conductor and the soloists had the opportunity to meet and work with the late composer, an experience they can now draw upon. The outstanding conductor Jerzy Swoboda was musical consultant to the director Krzysztof Zanussi for his BBC film about Lutosławski, the last film in which the composer made his appearance. Roman Lasocki was highly praised by Lutosławski, who encouraged him to perform the composer’s pieces. Tomasz Strahl performed the Cello Concerto in the presence of the composer himself.
