Katowice | 'Young Philharmonic': International Children's Day

On the 1st of June 2022, on the occasion of the International Children's Day, the Silesian Philharmonic will host special concerts from the ‘Young Philharmonic' series led by Regina Gowarzewska.

Children, youth and their guardians will be able to take part in the concerts, during which the Silesian Chamber Orchestra will present a programme specially prepared for them. The Carnival of Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns and Zoo Suite by Piotr Moss conducted by Piotr Wacławik will be performed. The pianists Agnieszka Kopińska and Piotr Kopiński will be the concert soloists.

Warsaw | 'Polish Music Scene': Adam Kośmieja

POLMICAt the National Philharmonic in Warsaw On the 31st of May 2022 at 7.00 pm at the Warsaw Philharmonic pianist Adam Kośmieja will perform. The concert is part of the ‘Polish Music Scene programme, co-organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance and Philharmonics throughout Poland.

Rarely performed pieces of Polish composers of the 20th century will be presented at the event: Aleksander Tansman, Tomasz Sikorski and Kazimierz Serocki, including - on the eve of the International Children's Day – Serocki’s miniatures for children Krasnoludki. The 100-year anniversary of the birth of Kazimierz Serocki will be celebrated this year, which is why the concert repertoire could not lack the most serious and difficult work by the composer for solo piano - Sonata from 1955. His sonoristic A piacere will also be performed.

Mińsk Mazowiecki | Concert on the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the City of Mińsk Mazowiecki

Concert on the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the City of Mińsk Mazowiecki will take place on the 29th of May 2022 at 6 pm on the premises of Zespół Szkół nr 1 im. Kazimierza Wielkiego in Mińsk Mazowiecki.

The city of Mińsk Mazowiecki invites you to the open-air event of the year, the oratorio and symphonic concert with the participation of the world famous mezzosoprano Małgorzata Walewska. The concert is the final event of the 600th anniversary of granting municipal rights to the city of Mińsk Mazowiecki.

The programme of the concert includes three works by Grzegorz Duchnowski, commissioned by the Museum of the Mińsk Land and will be performed by Sinfonia Varsovia conducted by Anna Duczmal-Mróz and Choirs of the Warsaw University of Technology and Tibi Domine.

The soloists will be Małgorzata Walewska, Anna Mikołajczyk (sopranos), Aneta Łukaszewicz (mezzosoprano), Tomasz Raff and Patryk Rymanowski (basses).

The project is co-financed by the Self-government of the Mazovian Voivodeship.

PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna culture sponsor

PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, the largest electric power company in Poland, announced the expansion of its sponsorship activities and expressed interest in the 'Warsaw Autumn' in this context.

The sponsorship programme ‘Kulturalna Grupa Energetyczna’ in 2021 included 15 philharmonics, among others Warsaw Philharmonic as well as the National Museum in Warsaw, the Warsaw Uprising Museum and the Wawel Royal Castle Museum. According to the report, the philharmonics sponsored by PGE were visited by 1.2 million listeners at that time.

Katowice | New Music Orchestra: Ornithology, Insectology, Hydrology

Stories about the natural world: about insects, birds and the water world will be a part of a family concert at the premises of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra on the 29th of May at 4 p.m. The composers will offer the audience an unusual game of imagination - playing with sound, text, colours, melodies and instruments. The pieces will be presented by the New Music Orchestra conducted by Filip Huget. The soloist will be the singer Joanna Freszel.

At the concert Children's songs by Joanna Szymala to the words of Maria Konopnicka, Ornithology by Jarosław Siwiński to the text of Małgorzata Kołcz, Insectology by Anna Maria Huszcza and Hydrology by Adrian Robak, written to the words of Maja Baczyńska will be performed.

2nd Composers' Competition for a choral piece to a text by a Polish female poet

POLMICThe Art'n'Voices Vocal Ensemble announces the 2nd edition of the Composers' Competition for a choral piece to a text by a Polish female poet, which will be held as part of the ArteFonie Festival. The deadline for submitting competition entries is the 20th of July, 2022.

The competition aims to popularize and develop choral literature intended for amateur choirs, therefore the subject of this year's edition is to write a piece for mixed choir in one of the two variants to choose from:

1. piece for mixed choir a cappella;
2. piece for mixed choir with piano accompaniment.

The texts for the competition composition should come from the works of Polish female poets, with particular emphasis on those of Maria Konopnicka.

Elbląg | Elbląg Music Masterclass and Young Virtuoso Competition

Elbląg Music Masterclass was created for young musicians who want to develop their skills under the guidance of famous instrumentalists and teachers from Poland and abroad. If you are training or are a graduate of one of the faculties: violin, viola, cello, conducting or you create a chamber ensemble together with other musicians, get acquainted with the new initiative - Elbląg Music Masterclass and submit your participation in the Courses and the "Young Virtuoso Competition" until the 31. of May 2022!

Between the 1-10th of July 2022 in Elbląg, each participant will be able to take part in individual lessons with a professor in a chosen field of study. The teaching staff will consist of instrumentalists and lecturers from renowned universities, incl. Marcin Zdunik (cello), Igor Petrushevski, Mariusz Patyra (violin), Marek Czech (viola), Anna Duczmal-Mróz (conducting), Bogna Czerwińska-Szymula (chamber ensembles). The Elbląg Chamber Orchestra will organize a number of various events tailored specifically to the needs of students of 1st and 2nd degree music schools, students and graduates of music academies from Poland and abroad. Participants will take part in courses, workshops, lectures and perform during recitals and concerts. EMM provides young musicians with the opportunity to present their skills to a wide audience thanks to the ‘Young Virtuoso Competition’ organized within the framework of EMM.

Warsaw | Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra: Noskowski, Karłowicz, Skoryk, Smetana

On the 28th of May 2022 at 7.00 p.m. in the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of the Polish Radio in Warsaw the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra conducted by Anna Sułkowska-Migoń will perform the Overture ‘Morskie Oko’ by Zygmunt Noskowski, Violin Concerto in A major by Mieczysław Karłowicz, three symphonic poems from the cycle Má vlast by Bedřich Smetana and Melody in A minor by Myrosław Skoryk.

The performer of the violin Concerto in A major by Karłowicz will be Małgorzata Wasiucionek, a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw in the class of prof. Roman Lasocki. She also studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg in the class of prof. Pierre Amoyal. Winner of many international competitions, in 2017 she received a doctorate in musical arts, and a year later became an assistant professor at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music.

Anna Sułkowska-Migoń, who conducts the concert, works with the Orchestra as part of the ‘Conductor-Resident’ programme.

Katowice | Camerata Silesia in NOSPR: Chłopecki in memoriam

On the 28th of May 2022 at 6 p.m. Camerata Silesia will perform at the premises of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra at a concert dedicated to the memory of Andrzej Chłopecki (1950–2012) on the 10th anniversary of his death.

Andrzej Chłopecki was one of the most prominent Polish music critics. His volatile mind and writing style (often very sharp!) are a model for successive generations of reviewers.

Works by Krzysztof Penderecki, Stanisław Krupowicz, Paweł Mykietyn and Aleksander Nowak will be performed at the concert which will end with Paweł Szymański's Phylakterion.
