Lublin | Jubilee concert on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Henryk Wieniawski Music Society in Lublin

JubileuszowyKoncert 125 3.9.23On the 3rd of September, 2023 at 17.00 in the Lublin Philharmonic, a jubilee concert will take place on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the Henryk WIeniawski Music Society in Lublin, which will also inaugurate the 12th S. Serwaczyński Violin Competition. Admission to the concert is free.

Violin Competition named after Stanisław Serwaczyński is a permanent event organized every three years. The organizer of the Competition, with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the City of Lublin, is Henryk Wieniawski Music Society.

The September concert will feature the Radom Chamber Orchestra conducted by Szymon Morus, organist Maciej Zakrzewski, violinists Lucjan Szaliński-Bałwas and Marcin David Król

Presented works will be: Caprice No. 1 Op. 18 and Obertas No. 1 Op. 19 by Henryk Wieniawski, Variations on the Melody of ‘Hava Nagila’ by Ewelina Nowicka, Orawa by Wojciech Kilar, and premiere works by Harvey Hope.

Warsaw | Renewable Music: Open lectures on music and ecology

As part of the project ‘Renewable Music. V4 Composers for Sustainability’ at the Warsaw headquarters of the Polish Composers' Union on the 2nd of September, 2023 at 11.00, lectures on the relationship between music and ecology will be open to the public.

We will have the opportunity to listen to the following speeches in English: Music, sound, nature by Prof. dr hab. Sławomira Żerańska-Kominek, Art, cognition, nature - the festival as an expression of the cognitive imperative and the ethos of searching for the truth by the director of the Warsaw Autumn Festival, Jerzy Kornowicz, and Objectophones: the use of everyday objects as instruments by the composer Wojciech Błażejczyk.

Warsaw | 'Dona Nobis Pacem' - Warsaw Philharmonic Choir in the Holy Trinity church

CHorFN 1.9.23Commemorating the events that took place 84 years ago, the Warsaw Philharmonic Choir conducted by Bartosz Michałowski will pay tribute to the victims of World War II. The first of the concerts as part of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Philharmonic Choir ‘Dona Nobis Pacem’ will take place in the Evangelical-Augsburg Church of the Holy Trinity in Warsaw on the 1st of September, 2023 at 19.00. Admission free!

The ‘Dona Nobis Pacem’ programme was prepared as an artistic response to the events we have been witnessing since the 24th of February, 2022. This date became a turning point that destroyed the sense of stability and security of the modern world.

The repertoire of the concert is a musical call for peace expressed in the music of Polish, Ukrainian, Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian composers. We will hear, among others Beatus vir by Łukasz Urbaniak and Sanctus (a prayer of gratitude) by Michał Ziółkowski.

Zamość | 84th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II: ‘Symphony of Sorrowful Songs’

SymfoniaPiesni 1.9.23On the 84th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II on the 1st of September, 2023 at 19.45 in the Zamość Rotunda there will be a concert of the Karol Namysłowski Symphony Orchestra in Zamość conducted by Tadeusz Wicherek. Together with the soprano Ewa Tracz, they will perform the Third Symphony – ‘Symphony of Sorrowful Songs’ Op. 36 by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki.

Symphony No. 3 was written in 1976, commissioned by the Südwestfunk radio station in Baden Baden. The premiere took place in Royan as part of the 14th International Festival of Contemporary Art. The recording of the work in the interpretation of Dawn Upshaw and the London Sinfonietta conducted by David Zinman in 1991 achieved over a million sales and won a gold record, which caused great interest in the Polish composer around the world.

The concert on the 1st of September will be dedicated to all the inhabitants of Zamość and the surrounding area who were murdered and deported to concentration camps during World War II.

Bielsko-Biała, Szczyrk, Ustroń, Żywiec, Cieszyn | 4th Festival Beskid Classics

Celebrating the 300th anniversary of granting Biała city rights, the organisers invite you to concerts in Bielsko-Biała between the 31st of August and the 16th of September. The baroque Ensemble Giardino di Delizie from Rome at the Sułkowski Castle, the Czech Philharmonic Quartet at Villa Sixta, and the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra with present the world premiere of the new work by Mikołaj Górecki and the most famous works by Mozart, Shostakovich and Respighi.

The workby Mikołaj Górecki was commissioned by the Temida Arts & Business Foundation and co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the ‘Composers' Commissions’ programme implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.

The concerts will also include music by such Polish artists as Adam Jarzębski, Fryderyk Chopin, Wojciech Kilar, Karol Szymanowski and Mieczysław Karłowicz.

Warsaw | Renewable Music: Workshops for composers

As part of the project ‘Renewable Music. V4 Composers for Sustainability’, connecting composers, performers and artistic institutions from the Visegrad Group (V4) countries, at the beginning of September 2023 workshops with experts in the field of music and ecology will take place in Warsaw, Prague, Bratislava and Budapest.

The series of workshops will begin in Warsaw, where composers will have the opportunity to visit the Castle Gardens on August 31 - September 2, take part in a discussion with Krzysztof Marciniak - a musicologist and acoustic ecologist, and Joanna Tabaka, an ecological educator, and work on original ideas with members of the Hasztag Ensemble, specializing in the performance of contemporary music.

Radziejowice | 20th Ensemble Festival

The jubilee 20th Ensemble Festival will take place on August 27 - September 3, 2023 at the House of Creative Work - Palace in Radziejowice. The programme will include music and theater workshops as well as concerts and acting shows, during which the results of cooperation between award-winning and emerging artists will be presented. Admission to this year's edition of the Ensemble Festival is free!

Most of the concerts will feature Polish music, e.g. works by Grażyna Bacewicz, Zygmunt Krauze, Józef Nowakowski, Jan Duszyński, Marcin Markowicz, Mikołaj Majkusiak, Marcin Masecki, as well as songs of pre-war Warsaw arranged by Marcin Masecki and Marcin Markowicz.

On the 2nd of September, there will be an acting show by Cezary Kosiński's group entitled Iwan Vyrypajew – "The Delhi Dance" (arr. Cezary Kosiński).

Co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund. The task was co-financed from the budget of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship.

Tłokowo | III Klangor – Chamber music concerts in Jeziorany Festival

On August 25-27, 2023, the Municipal Cultural Center in Jeziorany invites you to the 3rd festival ‘Klangor - Jeziorańskie Koncerty Kameralne’. The third edition is a meeting with three genres of vocal art: from folk, traditional singing, through classical, to stage vocals in the space of the church of St. Roch in Tłokowo / Kramarzewo.

It will inaugurate the ‘Folk Requiem’ Festival - a meeting between the singer Adam Strug and the Kwadrofonik ensemble. On the 26th of August, the duo Dwóch Głos, co-created by the cellist and composer Michał Pepol together with the pianist Bartek Wąsik, will introduce Szymanowski's music to the youngest audience in an accessible way: a selection of Kurpie Songs, Swan and excerpts from the ballet Harnasie in arrangements by the duo will be presented. On the same day, in the evening, we will hear another duo: pianist Karina Komendera and vocalist Maciej Pawlak will introduce the audience to the lesser-known, ambitious face of the musical.

What do music and philosophy have in common? Let's get to know the experts' answers and find your own during three days of various events of the Koherencje Festival! The festival, which will take place on August 24-26, 2023 at the Chamber Theater in Bydgoszcz, the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music and in Melostrefa, is the first in Poland and one of the few in Europe series of events devoted to music, philosophy and their interconnections.

The Festival programme consists of three lecture-concerts, combining an inspiring philosophical lecture with a concert: classical and contemporary music will be performed.
