Jerzy Fitelberg. String Quartets nos. 4 5 (AP0543)

Jerzy Fitelberg. String Quartets nos. 4 5 (AP0543)

A joint project of the Polish Viola Society and the Acte Prealable publishing house resulted in the production of an album containing the first recordings of the last two string quartets by Jerzy Fitelberg (1903-1951) whose work remained practically forgotten after his death.

String Quartets No. 4 (1936) and No. 5 (1945), reconstructed on the basis of preserved manuscripts, were recorded by the Fitelberg Quartet, which wishes to pay homage to the rich and varied output of its patron. Jerzy Fitelberg's chamber music presented on the album is the result of his search and musical experiments based on the experience gained during his stay in various places in Europe and North America.

Both string quartets are compositions by a talented artist honored with prestigious awards, which show the unknown side of Polish neoclassical chamber music.

The recording was made in the Concert Hall of the prof. Józef Świder Primary and Secondary Music School in Jastrzębie-Zdrój.

Co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund - a state special purpose fund, as part of the "Muzyczny ślad" program implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
