“Faszination Musik” is the new South German Radio (SWR) CD series inaugurated in May 2000. The releases have been grouped in five categories: commissions/first performances, chamber music, musical documents, guest conductors and outstanding soloists, jazz. The CD of Bacewicz’s piano works was brought out as a world premiere, since it contains first recordings of two pieces: Scherzo. Vivace and Three burlesques. All the compositions were performed by an eminent Polish pianist of the younger generation, Ewa Kupiec, whom Witold Lutosławski called “a genuine revelation”. Her spectacular performance perfectly matches the expressive, vital character of Bacewicz’s music.
