Łomża | "The Cold Bastard" - a retro show in memory of Eugeniusz Bodo

ZimnyDran 28 10 23"The Cold Bastard" - a retro show in memory of Eugeniusz Bodo, an icon of pre-war cinema and theater, a victim of Stalinism - will take place at the Witold Lutosławski Chamber Philharmonic in Łomża on the 80th anniversary of the artist's death.

On the 28th of October, 2023 at 6.30 p.m., the atmosphere of lyric poetry, sentimental memories, joy and humor, will be created together with Dariusz Wójcik by soprano Joanna Nawrot, tenor Jacek Szymański, Trio BODO, and the orchestra of the Chamber Philharmonic under the direction of Jarosław Praszczałek, as well as dancers of the Ballroom Dance Studio "TWIST" in Białystok. As part of the programme of the Polish Society of Contemporary Music "Creative Warsaw" on the 28th of October, 2023 at 5 p.m. in "Nowa Miodowa" there will be a concert summarizing the workshops "Don't be afraid to improvise!" for students of the Emil Młynarski First Degree Music School in Warsaw. Admission free!

The project was prepared by: double bassist Małgorzata Kołcz and composer and pianist Jarosław Siwiński. They have both been using their own methods in education for many years, promoting the idea of ​​teaching improvisation to the youngest, working with children in various parts of Poland. During the workshops, participants broadened their horizons, learning about an alternative to the all-encompassing mass culture and opening up to contemporary music, but also - learning mutual respect and cooperation, as well as independence in thinking and acting.

During the concert, both musical youth, who may become part of the world of contemporary music in the future, and the authors of the project will perform.

Warsaw | ĄsąBąble: family concert "Scooters"

"Scooters" is a musical and movement performative activity led by artists involved in movement, voice, composition and theater. Hashtag Lab invites you to a unique concert for families with children aged 3-7 on the 28th of October 28, 2023 at 10.00 and 12.00.

Let's allow ourselves to have fun as a family, to lie down comfortably, to sigh louder and to laugh uncontrollably. In the finale, the audience and the artists will compose and perform a song "releasing wishes" together.

The performers will be: composer Aleksandra Kaca, Marta Grzywacz (voice, improvisation), Alicja Czyczel (choreography) and the curator of the ĄsąBąble series, Anna Szawiel.

The organizers encourage you to come in clothes that will be comfortable for scooting.

Poznań | Premiere of the ballet "The Snow Queen"

On the 27th of October, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the Stanisław Moniuszko Grand Theater in Poznań will host the premiere of the ballet "The Snow Queen" with music by Przemysław Zych and choreography by Robert Bondara.

Of the many fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen, "The Snow Queen" is the one that can be perfectly translated into the language of dance. Mirror reflections, icy spaces, sparkling snowflakes make the characters' steps uncertain, and each of them looks for their own movement and rhythm.

Orchestra of the Grand Theater in Poznań will be conducted by Aleksander Gref.

Co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund as part of the "Composer's Commissions" programme implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.

An extraordinary jubilee concert inaugurating the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, will take place in the Academy's concert hall on the 27th and 28th of October at 7 p.m. World-famous artists announced their participation in the concert: sopranos Aleksandra Kurzak and Joanna Zawartko, baritone Mariusz Godlewski and violinist Sara Dragan. They will perform with the accompaniment of the Academic Symphony Orchestra and the combined choirs of the Wrocław Academy of Music under the direction of Maestro Marek Pijarowski.

Fantazje. Zgiełk myśli by Dawid Aleksy Dorożyński for symphony orchestra, Te Deum by Antonín Dvořák, Rondo alla Polacca by Karol Lipiński and Bolero by Maurice Ravel will be performed.

Gdańsk | XII NeoArte - Synthesizer of Art Festival

Neoarte 23XII NeoArte - Synthesizer of Art is a festival that will present the most interesting trends in music and contemporary art in Gdańsk on October 26-29, 2023.

During the four days of events, audience will be able to participate in twelve multidisciplinary concerts and performances. Composition students will take part in composition workshops, and children and teenagers will be able to participate in classes introducing them to the fascinating world of contemporary art.

Almost each concert is planned as a multidisciplinary performance. Among the performers we will see both leading foreign artists (Jonathan Powell, Duo Voicetronics, Hyo-young Kim) and the most outstanding Polish ensembles and soloists (Martyna Zakrzewska, Flow Unit, Piotr Kaliński, Ensemble Kompopolex, Maja Miro, Ewa Liebchen).

On the 26th of October 26, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. in Katowice, recognized artists will perform works by Szymanowski, Lutosławski and Brahms. NOSPR will be conducted by Alexander Liebreich (former first conductor of the Orchestra and artistic director), and the winner of the 8th Chopin Competition - Garrick Ohlsson - will perform as a soloist.

Before the concert, at 6.30 p.m., we invite you to the chamber hall for a meeting with Róża Światczyńska, who will discuss the works performed that evening. Entry to the lecture is free of charge, but you can show your subscription card or concert ticket to participate in the lecture.

The honorary award for lifetime achievement this year went to Irena Santor - the first lady of Polish song, performer of many unforgettable hits that make up the history of the Polish music scene.

Warsaw | Honorary Doctorate for Maestro Jerzy Maksymiuk

The world-famous conductor, pianist, composer - maestro Jerzy Maksymiuk will receive an honorary doctorate from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. The ceremony will take place on the 25th of October, 2023 in the concert hall of the Fryderyk Chopin Acadenmy of Music in Warsaw at 11.00.

 The laudation will be delivered by Prof. Tomasz Bugaj, the dean of the Instrumental Faculty, Prof. Tomasz Strahl and the Dean of the Faculty of Symphony and Opera Conducting Prof. Rafał Janiak.

During the artistic part, the legendary conductor will lead the Chopin University Chamber Orchestra whereas Janusz Olejniczak will perform as a soloist.

They will perform Divertimento in B flat major, KV 287 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the second movement of the Concerto for Piano and Strings by Jerzy Maksymiuk himself.
