WielkaNieobecna 15 10 23On the 15th of October, 2023 at the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews at 6 p.m. a concert as part of the "Musical World of Gershon Efros" project will take place. We will hear world premiere of Agnieszka Stulgińska's work Lechem We-Afar and songs from the Gershon Efros Anthology. The Great Absence concert will take place on the 80th anniversary of destruction of the Great Synagogue at 7 Tłomackie Square in Warsaw, one of the most impressive European synagogues. Free entrance!

The synagogue had over 2,000 seats and was not only a place for meetings and prayers, but also a place for concerts.

To commemorate the Great Synagogue in Tłomackie, the POLIN Museum invited young composer Agnieszka Stulgińska to cooperate. This is how a new piece was created, composed for a typical instrument for the Great Synagogue, i.e. choir and organ. Lechem We-Afar will be performed for the first time by the vocal group Match Match Ensemble under the direction of Lilianna Krych and the organist and researcher of Jewish music Jakub Stefek - author of the project "The Musical World of Gershon Efros".
