Warsaw | 30th International Festival of Organ Music ‘Organy Archikatedry’

OrganyArchikatedry 23The 30th International Festival of Organ Music ‘Organy Archikatedry’, one of the most important organ festivals in Poland, will be held between July 2 - September 17, 2023 at the Warsaw Cathedral (Świętojańska 8). This year, during the Festival on Sundays at 4.00 p.m., recognized artists from Germany, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Poland will perform.

The jubilee edition will include: music by Mieczysław Surzyński, Fryderyk Chopin and Feliks Nowowiejski, who performed in this church at the beginning of the 20th century. Thanks to the large scope of the event, the work of Polish composers is effectively promoted.

On the 2nd of July, 2023 at 17.00 the Silesian Philharmonic invites you to the first of the summer concerts. The Silesian Chamber Orchestra conducted by Yaroslav Shemet will perform an extremely colorful and energetic programme and the premiere of Sabina Meck's Concerto for Percussion Instruments and String Orchestra.

Together with drummer Krzysztof Nowakowski, the Philharmonic will also perform works by the soloist of the evening, arranged by Piotr Trust, which will show the possibilities and spectrum of sounds of percussion instruments: Montenegro, Colors of Autumn or We are growing. We will also hear Leoš Janáček's Suite for String Orchestra and popular music hits arranged by Dariusz Zboch.

Everything will take place as part of the multimedia series ‘PGE Holograms’: a holographic projection will be used during the concert.

Some may be surprised - the premiere of a ballet performance in the theater paint shop... Choreographer Antonina Jakubowska for her ballet Niobe with music by Jan Gromski has just chosen the paint shop of the Grand Theater in Łódź with its specificity and atmosphere. The meeting with the art of dance in an unusual setting will take place on the 1st of July, 2023 at 21.30.

The performance was produced with the scholarship funds of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in 2021-2022.

Cracow | 19th Festival of Polish Music

The 19th edition of the Festival of Polish Music consists of five consecutive July weekends filled with carefully selected Polish music from the 16th to the 20th century, supplemented with masterpieces of world music, all performed by recognized artists from around the world. Between the 1st and 29th of July 2023 we will hear, among others: works by Józef Michał Poniatowski, Fryderyk Chopin and Ignacy Jan Paderewski, masterpieces for the baroque lute, as well as the most beautiful arias from rarely performed 19th-century Polish operas.

During the inauguration we will hear i.a. Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 11 by Fryderyk Chopin (the Hungarian piano virtuoso János Balázs as the soloist) and the Serenade Op. 2 by Mieczysław Karłowicz performed by Sinfonietta Cracovia conducted by Maciej Tworek

Performance of the finalist of the 16th Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition in Poznań will be an extraordinary event. 21-year-old Dayoon You from South Korea will perform works by Henryk Wieniawski, Ignacy Jan Paderewski and Witold Lutosławski.

23rd Ryszard Kubiak Musical Gardens Festival is subtitled 'Dance Gardens!' - this year Festival events will be related to dance and will take place in the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of the Polish Radio and in the Ballroom of the Royal Castle. The programme includes 26 events: 6 live concerts and 20 film screenings. On the 22nd and 23rd of July, during the Picnic in the Royal Castle Gardens, three films appreciated by the audience in the previous Musical Gardens edition will be screened. Admission to the Picnic is free.

During the inaugurating concert at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio the Polish Radio Orchestra conducted by Michał Klauza will perform among others City Sketches by Henryk Wars and Kitten Climbs on the Fence Suite by Henryk Czyż. The programme of the Sinfonia Varsovia Camerata concert at the Royal Castle will include Grażyna Bacewicz's String Quartet No. 4.

The ‘Porta Musicae’ Artistic Association invites you to the Festival of Classical Music of the 9th Małopolska Academy of Talents, which will take place between the 25th of June and the 1st of July, on the 23rd of July and the 27th of August 27, 2023. Six concerts will be held in Łąck and two in Krynica-Zdrój.

The Małopolska Academy of Talents is an undertaking that brings together different generations of Polish musicians. Among the invited artists are: Cracow Duo (Jan Kalinowski and Marek Szlezer), Małgorzata Malke and Izabela Kozak, Bohema Trio. As every year, participants of music courses of the Małopolska Academy of Talents will also perform on the festival stage; a special concert performed by them - Chopin Evening - will take place on the 29th of June.

Awards of the Polish Composers' Union granted in the field of music education

Grażyna KrzanowskaOn the 28th of June, 2023 the Presidium of the Main Board of the Polish Composers' Union awarded the (eighth in history) Award of the Polish Composers' Union for merits in the field of music education. It was received by the composer and teacher Grażyna Krzanowska - for many years of educational activities in the field of contemporary music among children and youth.

The award ceremony of the Polish Composers' Union is planned during the 66th International Festival of Contemporary Music ‘Warsaw Autumn’.


 

Cracow | 'Summer Light Concerts of the Piano Cooperative' 2nd edition

The Association of Polish Chamber Musicians together with the Villa Decius Institute of Culture are back with another edition of musical meetings, including both classical recitals and more relaxed concerts. 'Summer Light Concerts of the Piano Cooperative' will take place at Villa Decius in Cracow at 12.00 on the 25th of June, 16th and 30th of July and 30th of August, 2023. Admission to all concerts is free.

The summer initiative of the Piano Cooperative is in fact meetings of musical friends - artists and the public - in a Renaissance palace. Monika Gardoń-Preinl, Marta Mołodyńska-Wheeler, Grzegorz Mania, Piotr Różański, Justyna Piękoś, and Piotr Kędzierski will perform works for 4, 6 and 8 hands, including the first performances of compositions by Marta Mołodyńska-Wheeler and Piotr Kędzierski.

The duo of Dominika Grzybacz (piano) and Wiktoria Zawistowska-Tyliba (mezzo-soprano) will perform works by Robert Schumann and Ludomir Różycki. During the final concert, interpreted by Michał Dziewior (piano) and Karolina Górny (violin), we will hear works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Richard Strauss, Karol Szymanowski and Fritz Kreisler.

Kielce | Ist International Piano Masterclasses 'Spaces of Culture'

On July 17-21, 2023, the Ist International Piano Masterclasses 'Spaces of Culture' will take place in Kielce. The application deadline is the 17th of June.

The project is dedicated to pianists at all levels of artistic education: both students of primaryand secondary music schools, as well as students and graduates of music academies.

During the courses, participants will work under the guidance of recognized pedagogues and artists, such as: Olga Łazarska, Hubert Rutkowski, Bartłomiej Kominek and Luka Okros.

The course will include: masterclasses with pedagogues in the following specialties: piano and piano duo, concerts of participants, lectures.
