Festival "Chopin. Romantique" in Turzno

"Chopin. Romantique" is an educational-artistic project aimed to pianists, teachers of piano and the audience. Between 26th August and 2nd September 2024 the Romantic Palace in Turzno nearby Toruń will host the Piano Competition, the International Master Piano Course and the Piano Festival. Free admission!

The Maria Szymanowska Society and the Henry Neuhaus Piano Art Foundation have decided to unite and to transform the Piano Mastercourse in Turzno, organized several times under Honorary Patronage of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, and the Piano Competition ‘Music Phenomena’ – into an open for public festival. Among lecturers and members of the jury there are concert pianists and renowned piano pedagogues, like Professor Andrzej Jasiński.

Palace is one of the places connected with life of Fryderyk Chopin, but during the festival we will also listen to music by Magin, Szymanowski and many other composers. Stages of the concert hall ‘Chopin’ and the amphitheater in the park will present the laureates of the competition, participants of the course as well as the lecturers.

"The place is somehow magic – the Romantic Palace creates an exceptional atmosphere. The mere awareness that Chopin was here is very important for young people. Spirit of the composer fosters inspiration – working here is completely different" – Justyna Galant, the artistic director, says.

"Chopin. Romantique" is devoted not only to educate young pianists, but also teachers – the organizers invite pedagogues of piano for passive, free from charge participation in all the master classes. They also hope that free admission to festival recitals will encourage listeners to visit Turzno and that "Chopin. Romantique" will become an important element of the cultural life of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region.

The project is co-financed by the Foundation of the Polish-German Cooperation. Its Partners are: The Romantic Palace in Turzno, Musikakademie der Stadt Kassel „Louis Spohr”, the Karol Szymanowski Music School Complex in Toruń and the Pro Juventus Foundation.

The media patronage of the event is provided by the Polish Music Information Center POLMIC.
