On the 21^st of June 2024 at 5 p.m., we invite you to a meeting and mini-concert as part of the series "Meetings at the Composers’" at the Warsaw premises of the Polish Composers' Union (Rynek Starego Miasta 27). We will present a new polmic.pl website, a photo gallery of Andrzej Markowski celebrating the 100^th anniversary of his birth, and we will also learn about the work of the composer and double bassist Tadeusz Wielecki and the musicologist Adam Suprynowicz on a new book. There will also be no shortage of musical and sweet surprises! Free entrance!

"Meeting at the Composers’" will be led by Dr. Mieczysław Kominek - president of ZKP, director of POLMIC. The event will also be attended by: an expert in Joomla! Marcin Równicki, Izabela Zymer - project coordinator, and the editor of the polmic.pl portal, Dr. Wiktoria Antonczyk.

During the presentation of the renewed website, we will talk about the activities of the Polish Music Information Center POLMIC. The project "Polish music is the most beautiful - documentation of Polish musical culture on the www.polmic.pl website" has been implemented in 2022–2024 thanks to the support of the Minister of Education and Science as part of the "Science for Society" programme. The Patron of this event is Society of Authors ZAiKS.

The end of the 79^th artistic season of the Silesian Philharmonic will be full of great symphonic music. We will hear the monumental Piano Concerto No. 1 by Johannes Brahms, the symphonic poem Death and Transfiguration by Richard Strauss, filled with great emotions, and the daring Toccata by Bolesław Szabelski. All this, of course, performed by the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Yaroslav Shemet. The solo part in the Brahms Concerto will be performed this evening by the outstanding pianist Saleem Ashkar.

Bolesław Szabelski was a professor at the State Higher School of Music in Katowice, co-founder of the Silesian school of composers. Toccata, which was initially part of the Suite for Orchestra, by the composer's decision began to function as an independent piece. First performed in 1938, it became a kind of showcase for this artist.

During this concert, the results will be announced and prizes will be awarded to the winners of the Review Competition dedicated to the anniversary of Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa.

The last concert of the 2023/2024 artistic season of the Zielona Góra Philharmonic - music inspiration, a light show and dancing with fire! On the 22^nd of June at 9 p.m., the Orchestra and Choir of this institution conducted by Maestro Rafał Kłoczko, as well as the Karmazyn Fireshow group, will perform in front of the Philharmonic building. Free entrance!

We will hear works by Georges Bizet, Giuseppe Verdi, Maurice Ravel, Hans Zimmer, Edward Elgar and the director of the Philharmonic himself - Rafał Kłoczko.

The Karmazyn Fireshow group will present a dance with fire. In addition, Lug Light Factory will organize an extraordinary light show. This unique event will be hosted by Jerzy Snakowski.

Everyone likes fairy tales. Even a centenarian like the Polish Society of Contemporary Music. This time you are invited to a "Musical journey to the land of imagination". Participants will create fairy tales together, and musicians will create illustrations for them. This joint journey will take place on the 22^nd of June, 2024 at 11.00 at the Multimedia Library for Children and Youth No. XXXI in the Mokotów District. Admission is free!

"A musical journey into the world of imagination" is a family concert, the course of which is determined on an ongoing basis by the audience. It is based on a story told by an actor, accompanied by improvising musicians. However, the storyteller knows this story only at the beginning. From a certain point, the listeners are asked to contribute more and more of their ideas, from character descriptions to completely new plots. At the end of the journey, the audience decides almost entirely about the developing story.

The Mother of God, Saint Cecilia, the Bride from the Song of Songs - three female figures present in Christian culture, although of ancient origin, were also a source of inspiration for the most outstanding composers of the twentieth century. The NFM Choir, conducted by Lionel Sowa, will refer to them during a concert on June 23, 2024 at 4.00 p.m. Polish works - works by Andrzej Panufnik, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki and Krzysztof Penderecki, as well as Hymn to St. Cecilia by the Englishman Benjamin Britten and a masterpiece of French choral music - Le Cantique des cantiques by Jean Yves Daniel-Lesur.

"You are more beautiful than the moon, purer than the stars, brighter than the sun, Mary!" – the musicians will sing in the opening concert of the Song to the Virgin Mary by Andrzej Panufnik. This quite simple Marian song with a melody referring to folk music and Gregorian chant was written by him in exile as a result of inspiration from Polish folk piety.
