Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra under the direction of Christopher Warren-Green will perform a concert on the occasion of Sir Yehudi Menuhin’s 100th birthday anniversary on April 3, 2016 at the Teatr Wielki-National Opera.

The legendary violinist Yehudi Menuhin arrived to Poland as soloist and conductor in 1984, having received an invitation from Waldemar Dąbrowski and Franciszek Wybrańczyk, director of the Polish Chamber Orchestra. In order to meet the challenges related to the planned repertoire, the ensemble increased the number of its members by inviting renowned musicians from all over Poland to perform together. Their first concerts held under the direction of Yehudi Menuhin were enthusiastically applauded by the audience and praised by critics, while Menuhin accepted an offer to become the first guest conductor of the newly established symphony orchestra bearing the name of Sinfonia Varsovia.

The Orchestra, together with the soloists-violinists Leland Chen and Darwin Chang, will perform under the baton of Christopher Warren-Green - British violinist and conductor associated with, among others, the London Chamber Orchestra. The artist had worked with the ensemble before and a recording of their concert with pianist Maria João Pires made at the 2010 edition of "Chopin and His Europe" Festival was released in 2015.
