On 22-31 August 2021, Katowice will host the 15th "August of Talents" National Promotion Festival. The Katowice City of Gardens – Krystyna Bochenek Institution of Culture invites you to festival concerts in the spacious Concert Hall at 2 Silesian Parliament Square.
This year, the inauguration of the Festival will be associated with a series of open-air events in the Kościuszko Park entitled „Music Promenade”. On 22 August, four young singers – Sylwia Ziółkowska, Natalia Płonka, Stanisław Napierała and Wiktor Jankowski, accompanied by Mirella Malorny-Konopka on the piano, will present well-known fragments of operas and operettas.
On 24 August, a piano trio composed of Bartłomiej Fraś (violin), Julianna Vinci (cello) and Jim-Isaac Chua (piano) will perform masterpieces of romantic chamber music by Beethoven, Brahms and Schubert. A Chopin piano recital by Jakub Kuszlik – young pianist qualified to the 18th International Chopin Competition held in October this year – will be held on 26 August.
Three pianists – winners of the Piano Competition Online organised by the Elena Aleksiejuk Foundation – will perform on 28 August at the concert co-organised with the Foundation. The youngest laureates from Poland – Bartosz Frydel and Lena Juszkiewicz – will present works by Bach, Bacewicz and Rachmaninow, while a Chinese pianist living in the USA, Xu Guo, will give a Chopin recital.
The final concert of this year’s edition of "August of Talents" will belong to duets. On 31 August, violinist Karolina Górny and pianist Michał Dziewior will present works by Schubert and Wieniawski, and Trefon Gmyrek DUO, composed of Maria Gmyrek (saxophone) and Wojciech Trefon (harp), will perform a varied programme including works by Debussy, Ravel and Piazzolla.
