As part of celebrations of the 167th anniversary of Fryderyk Chopin's death, Mozart’s Requiem in D minor KV 626 will be performed on October 17, 2016 at the Holy Cross Basilica in Warsaw.
Each year on October 17, the Fryderyk Chopin Institute organizes a concert marking the anniversary of Fryderyk Chopin's death. Its program refers to the composer's funeral ceremony, which took place at St. Magdalene's Church in Paris on October 30, 1849, and during which - according to his wishes - Mozart's Requiem was played.
Traditionally, Requiem will be performed in the interior of the Holy Cross Basilica where Chopin's heart is laid to rest.
