The 17th Gdańsk Music Festival will take place between the 10th and 18th of May, 2024 in Gdańsk and the Gdańsk Metropolitan Area. The formula of the project is open, but the programme of each subsequent edition of the Festival is given an individual character by the accompanying message. May 2024 marks the 200th anniversary of the premiere of one of the most important works in the history of music – Ludvig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D minor.
This work will be performed on the 11th of May 11 at the St. John Center conducted by the recognized conductor Eugen Tzigane. We will also hear Beethoven's masterpieces interpreted by the winner of the 5th International Baltic Piano Competition, Borun Li, on the 13th of May and by the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Marek Pijarowski during the final concert.
World-renowned artists and leading Polish symphony orchestras were invited to participate in this year's edition of the Festival, including: Anastasia Kobekina, Daniel Ciobanu, Alexandre Tharaud, Georgijs Osokins, the Pomeranian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, the Silesian Chamber Orchestra, the Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra "Amadeus" and, as always, the Symphony Orchestra of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic.
