2016 edition of the Krzysztof Penderecki International Festival will be held from September 20 to 25 in the Guido Mine in Zabrze.
The Festival is likely to be a delightful, astonishing event that will give everyone pause for thought. The programme includes a premiere performance of Gregory Frid’s The Diary of Anne Frank – the work which, despite its world-wide recognition and several adaptations (including a recent film release), has not been staged in Poland yet. The main vocal role will be interpreted by Belgian singer Anna Maistriau. On the next days, the audience will be presented with Krzysztof Pendrecki’s entire output for string quartet performed by the Dafô Quartet (the concert played in the dark, followed by dinner held in the dark corners of the Guido Mine) and the performance of Julian Rachlin, Sarah McElravy and Sinfonietta Cracovia under the baton of Krzysztof Penderecki.
