The annual celebration of Polish pianists – the Polish Piano Festival in Słupsk – will be held on September 8-14, 2018.
Initiated in 1967, the Festival remains an unmatched place to promote native piano music. The rich history, abound with the virtuoso performances of the most outstanding Polish pianists, made the Festival a significant musical event in Poland, and at the same time a cultural showpiece of Słupsk.
This year, the programme will cover two symphonic concerts, a vocal and piano evening, piano recitals, a salon of laureats and an evening of jazz. The inaugural concert will mark the 70th anniversary of the death of Raul Koczalski, an outstanding performer of Chopin's works and composer, author of five piano concerts. His Piano Concerto No. 3 will be presented for the first time in Poland by Joanna Ławrynowicz. In addition, Łukasz Krupiński will perform Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 17 Ignacy Jan Paderewski.
As part of the "Youth Stage" series, 6 half-recitals will be held, and each participant will perform one of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski miniatures; a special prize will be awarded for the best performance.
The final concert will also feature contemporary music: the world premiere of Zbigniew Kruczek's concert for piano, flute and string orchestra, created at the request of the FPP.
