57th Tadeusz Baird Competition – results of the 1st stage

The results of the compositions admitted to the 2nd stage of the Tadeusz Baird Competition for Young Composers were announced on January 29, 2016.

The jury (Paweł Łukaszewski - chairman, Alicja Gronau, Krzysztof Baculewski, Anna Szostak and Dariusz Zimnicki) selected the following works: Jako cień są nasze dni… (signed ADNAW), Egzorta (signed MCBR), Trobey Pastora (signed Paradisum), Reis Glorias (signed HorChe’lCiel), …w okropnościach widzenia nocnego… (signed SOFAR), Carmen Perpetuum (signed Hildegarda). The date of the final concert and the names of the winners will be announced at the website of the Polish Composers’ Union.

The subject of this edition of the competition was an 8- to 15-minute long work for vocal sextet (to be performed by ensemble proModern). The main theme was the contemporary interpratation of the texts used by Tadeusz Baird in his compositions: Egzorta (Exhortation), Trzy pieśni starowłoskie (Three Songs to Old Italian texts), Pieśni truwerów (Chansons des Trouvères).
