For the eighth time, lovers of music, history and capital's architecture will be able to take part in the concerts of the WarszeMuzik festival, which will take place in tenement houses in Warsaw's Wola district and in the Umschlagplatz Monument. In these extraordinary locations, between August 3 and 31, we will hear not only works by composers of Jewish origin, but also masterpieces of classical music and contemporary compositions. The program also includes historical journeys. Admission to all events is free!
On Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 6 p.m. chamber music will be performed in the former Warsaw Ghetto: in the courtyards of tenement houses at Złota 62, Chłodna 20 and Chmielna 122, as well as in the contemplative space of the Umschlagplatz Monument. The final concert of the festival will take place at the STUDIO Teatrgaleria on Plac Defilad - it is also a symbolic place, because the outer wall of the Palace of Culture and Science marks the borders of the ghetto.
This year's performances will include: Herbert Piano Trio, Małgorzata Wasiucionek, Andrzej Karałow, Tymoteusz Bies, Aleksander Wnuk, Jan Wachowski, Magdalena Bojanowicz, Adam Kośmieja, the Rozalia Kierc duo and Justyna Khil, Poldowski String Quartet, Agata Schmidt and the festival curators - Ania Karpowicz and Marek Bracha.
The composer-in-residence of this year's edition is the Israeli composer Uri Agnon: the premiere of his work Trees will take place on August 17.
Historical walks around the former Northern District will be led by Franciszek Bojańczyk and Aleksandra Stefaniak, and bicycle trips by Paweł Łęczuk.
