A monographic concert on the occasion of Andrzej Hundziak’s 90th birthday will be held on March 14, 2017 at the Rubinstein Philharmonic in Łódź.
Andrzej Hundziak, born in 1927 in Krośniewice, is a Polish composer, teacher and musical life animator. He studied musicology (Łódź University), music theory and composition - first with Tadeusz Szeligowski in Warsaw, then with Bolesław Woytowicz in Katowice. In 1967 he moved to Paris to study with Nadia Boulanger. Active as a teacher and choral conductor, he also worked at the Academy of Music in Łódź and held the position of director of the Grand Theatre in Łódź (1979-81). He is a member of the Polish Composers' Union and the National Council for Culture.
The programme of the anniversary events, initiated and organized by the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź, Łódź Branch of the Polish Composers’ Union, Henryk Wieniawski Music School and Philharmonic in Łódź, includes concerts and meeting with the composer. During the final concert on March 14, music by Hundziak will be presented by lecturers and students of the Academy of Music.
