Beata Bilińska and Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra under Brian Schembri will interpret compositions by Wojciech Kilar, Jean Sibelius, Modest Mussorgsky and Charles Camilleri on February 26 and 27, 2016 at the Krakow Philharmonic.
Wojciech Kilar composed Piano Concerto No. 2 shocked by a tragic historical event. It was probably Polish presidential jet crash at Smolensk in April 2010 that the composer had in mind. The solo part will be performed by the pianist who premiered the work with the Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra under Jacek Kaspszyk in October 2011. This time the orchestra will be conducted by Maltese artist Brian Schembri – music director and consultant at Malta National Theatre "Teatru Manoel" and principal conductor and artistic director of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.
