Polish music on the 100th anniversary of regaining independence – this is the motto of this year's Festival of Polish Composers. The 23rd edition of the Festival will take place on October 4-6, 2018.
All concerts will take place in the House of Music at the Cultural Center of Bielsko-Biała. On October 4, during the inauguration of the festival, we will hear Piano Concerto by Ignacy Jan Paderewski and Symphony No. 2 "Copernicus" by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki . The works will be performed by the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir under the direction of Marek Wroniszewski and soloists: Edyta Piasecka (soprano|), Mariusz Godlewski (baritone), and Kevin Kenner (piano).
October 5 is an etno evening, under the name "Permeation – ethno fantasies in the output of Polish composers." The concert will feature Atom String Quartet, Grażyna Auguścik, Igor Herbut, Sebastian Karpiel-Bułacka, Janusz Olejniczak, and Adam Sztaba. In their interpretation, we will hear works by Fryderyk Chopin, Stanisław Moniuszko, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Aleksander Tansman, Aleksander Tansman, Witold Lutosławski and Wojciech Kilar.
On October 6, the music of Fryderyk Chopin and Mieczysław Karłowicz will be performed by the Polish Orchestra Sinfonia Iuventus under the baton of Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk - director of the Silesian Philharmonic. Alberto Nose from Italy will play the piano. In addition, on October 5 a special concert of Polish music will be held for children and youth performed by the Bielska Festival Orchestra under the baton of Sławomir Chrzanowski, soprano Joanna Korpiela-Jatkowska and pianist Katarzyna Musiał.
