The 4th "Music at the Blumwe Villa" Festival consists of five extraordinary concerts between 19 August and 9 December 2021. Among the invited artists are Krzysztof Meisinger, Paweł Zalejski, Zarębski Piano Duo, Zbigniew Zamachowski and the Herbert Piano Trio.
The festival organised by the Piotr Orawski Foundation offers chamber meetings with music and musicians. The concerts will be held every month, always on Thursdays, this time at Pomorzanin Cinema. Traditionally, they will be accompanied by interviews with artists led by Magdalena Jasińska – editor of Polish Radio PiK, and dr. hab. Bartłomiej Wezner – director of the Festival, at the Jeremi Przybora Concert Studio of Polish Radio PiK. The concerts will be recorded and broadcast on the Piotr Orawski Foundation YouTube channel, as well as retransmitted on Polish Radio PiK on Fridays at 9.06 p.m. in the "Classic Salon" programme.
A concert of competition winners will feature works by Mieczysław Karłowicz. Zarębski Piano Duo will present pieces by Władysław Żeleński and Ignacy Friedman. Bartłomiej Wezner and Paweł Zalejski will perform, among others, works by Zalejski himself. The final concert entitled "Emotions: word and sound" will feature Zbigniew Zamachowski, Herbert Piano Trio (Bartłomiej Wezner, Joanna Kreft, Dominik Płociński) and percussionist Jan Wezner. We will hear, among others, Michał Dobrzyński's 2xH for actor, piano trio, percussion and electronics (2020) to poems by Zbigniew Herbert and fragments of The Book of Job, as well as Rafał Janiak's Sounds of robots for actor, piano trio and percussion (2021) to excerpts from Stanisław Lem's Fables for Robots. The work in tribute to Stanisław Lem on his 100th birth anniversary was created as part of the "Composing Commissions" programme carried out by the National Institute of Music and Dance. And this is only the Polish part of the rich programme of the Festival.
