A special concert celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Parish of St. Joseph the Worker in Katowice will take place on May 4, 2025, at 7:00 PM.
The Katowice City Singers Ensemble "Camerata Silesia," conducted by Anna Szostak, will perform works by both old masters and contemporary composers from various European countries—meditative and sacred music. Admission is free!
Among the pieces performed will be Edward Elgar’s moving Lux aeterna, Pēteris Vasks’s contemplative The Fruit of Silence, and the exceptionally sparse yet inwardly luminous compositions of Arvo Pärt.
There will also be Polish highlights—the ensemble will present Te Ioseph celebrent by Grzegorz Gorczycki, Matko Najświętsza by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, and a cycle of hymns Z dawna Polski, arranged by Sabina Meck.
"This is a concert that opens the heart to silence, peace, and prayer—a musical pilgrimage toward what is invisible, yet so near," the organizers emphasize.
